Message from Director

Keeping in touch

Hello! This January is filled with a lot of hope mixed with a dose of lingering uncertainty. We’ve come through a good portion of the pandemic and people are starting to get vaccinated, though many health restrictions will remain in place for all or most of the year. With mass gatherings on hold, many of our signature programs and events are being modified or will not be held in 2021. However, we’ll continue to plan creatively for how to best bring programs to schools, our greater community, and you! Scroll through to see some of our current endeavors and let us know if there is a special project for your school or organization with which we may be able to help.

Be well,

Executive Director

Second Saturdays

Join us February 13!

We are now open on the second Saturday of each month from 10 am to 3 pm! So mark your calendars for Saturday, February 13, to revisit some of your favorite works and see Justin Richel: A Window, A Door, A Ladder before it closes on February 19. Also, the second Saturday of each month is free for Roswell residents, so tell your friends and family to stop in!

In addition to second Saturdays, our current hours are Tuesday through Friday, 1 to 5 pm. Wednesdays are free for seniors (age 60 and over) and members and children 15 and under are always free. Safety precautions are in place, including enhanced cleaning and masks are required for staff and visitors.  For questions prior to your visit, please visit our website or call 575-624-6744.

Ceramics Open Studio

Limited Open Studio to return April 1

We’ve missed our dedicated ceramics students! After many requests and much deliberation for how to maintain a safe environment during COVID, we are opening a limited-capacity adult open studio ceramics program beginning April 1. As an open studio, the focus is on access to the studio as opposed to direct instruction, although instructor Aria Finch will be available periodically for questions and assistance as needed.

Registration will only be open to previous RMAC ceramics students as they are already familiar with basic techniques and studio operations. Altogether, there will be 9 three-hour blocks, or sessions, available, Monday to Friday 9 am to 12 pm and Tuesday to Friday 1-4 pm with each session accommodating 5 students. Students may register for more than one session. While these restrictions are not ideal, we hope this will provide support for a portion of our creative community

Initial registration will be limited to the last term of students from winter 2019. All other students are welcome to register beginning February 16 online or in person during museum hours. For questions about registration, please call Tiffany Melancon at 575-500-0363 or the main line at 575-624-6744.

Puzzle Room

Challenge yourself to find the RAiR Secret!

The Puzzle Room is still available as a small group activity for those that like puzzle challenges. A fictional storyline, inspired by works from the collection, has you solve a series of puzzles to figure out the “RAiR Secret” in 60 minutes.

Cost is $5 per person to help support our operations. The activity is geared for 3 to 5 players, ages 16 and up. Call for further details or to place a reservation at 575-624-6744. Reservations during open hours are preferred, but alternative times may be available upon request.

Membership Videos

Reflecting on the importance of RMAC

Did you miss our Membership Week videos that aired last month? Click here to see some familiar faces from our community as they talk about what makes RMAC special to them.

Thank you to our video participants and to those who have been keeping your memberships up to date through the pandemic. We are honored and deeply appreciate your support.
