Speed!  Glory!  Sculpture!
Training the next Generation of Sculpture Racers
Parts and Crafts, in partnership with People's Sculpture Racing, is excited to announce a series of Sculpture Racing workshops for parents, educators, and other interested grownups.
LEAD A SCULPTURE RACING TEAM!
TWO INSTRUCTOR WORKSHOPS
SATURDAY: March 12th, 1-3pm
TUESDAY:  March 15th, 5:30-7pm
  • How do we start?
  • What do we need?
  • What do we learn/what can we teach?
We'll learn about sculpture racing, what it is, how a racing-sculpture is made (and how fun and easy it can be to race a sculpture!)   We'll touch on the basics of kinetic sculpture and making mobile objects and we'll talk about how helpful grownups can lead groups of kids to sculpture racing glory!

Each workshop is a self-contained introduction to sculpture racing.

WHO SHOULD SIGN UP?
Parents, educators, and grownups who are interested in leading youth sculpture racing teams to participate in the People's Sculpture Racing Community Race in Cambridge on April 23rd.  These workshops are FREE and open to adults who are interested in leading a sculpture racing team.  No experience is required.
DATES AND TIMES!
The workshop takes place at Part and Crafts, a community makerspace in Somerville located at 577 Somerville Avenue.  While the workshop is geared towards grown-ups and educators, the space is kid-friendly and children are invited to hang out and participate in our open-shop time during the workshop hours.
WHAT IS PARTS AND CRAFTS?
Parts and Crafts is a kid makerspace and community workshop in Somerville, Massachusetts. We encourage kids to think and make and learn and do through the exploration of the arts, science, computer programming, and engineering.

What does this look like in practice? We spend a lot of our time taking apart computers, building kid-sized hovercrafts, programming in Scratch, building, crafting, inventing, playing, and having a blast making things and exploring the world around us.
