February is a great time to teach about health. There are opportunities for lessons about the heart and teeth. I feel sorry for teeth in February! When teaching a lesson about the circulatory system to little ones, it’s always good to start with what the heart looks like! The Seymour Simon books
are a great resource. When teaching elementary students, I use the pictures from some of them to show the class as we talk about the human body. His books on the human body system are mostly at a 4th or 5th grade reading level. My pinterest board on Teaching about the Human Body and Health has some links to great resources – including some amazing science experiments. The Teacher Treasure Hunter store at Teachers Pay Teachers has several resources for teaching about the human body and healthy habits. You can check them out here

President’s Day is right around the corner! What do you have planned for your classroom. I’m excited about an art project of the Jefferson Memorial that I found on TPT. We’ll also be diving into learning even more about Washington & Lincoln.

I’ve created a YouTube slideshow about each of them. I like this YouTube president’s rap for older students because it tells a little bit about each president. If you’re trying to memorize the presidents, putting it to a familiar tune is so helpful. Try this version.
