The streets and especially the sidewalks have been ice glazed and ultra-slick so I hope everyone is taking cautious steps and staying on their feet. Be careful out there and today, tomorrow and every day get out and make the most of the moments you have in this world.

it was a graveyard smash

dearly beloved we are here to bid you goodnight

So this is it. The last email. It’s been a fun and useful exercise over this past year. I want to thank you for spending the time every week.

A few things I’ve learned:
  • I can’t believe I didn’t start at the beginning of the year. The incongruity of having the one year anniversary  2 weeks in January nags at my sense of order and evenness.
  •  I shouldn’t have held so militantly to a format I decided on without too much thought. I could have dropped the vampires and animal friends or alternated them.
  • Occasionally things I wrote quickly got more love vs. the writing I sweated and rewrote and micromanaged.
  •  I liked when the newsletter led to a little conversation or discussion.
  • Unexpectedly, my favorite part became the weekly instagram image. I really like how the black and white pattern holds together.
What’s next?
I enjoyed writing every week but looking back I think the work would have benefited from some editing and rewrites. Instead of drawing 4 quick pictures I could spend more time on 1 image. With all of this in mind I decided to switch from a weekly electronic message to a monthly mailer. I like the process of writing addresses on envelopes and sticking on the stamps. All the recent talk about NFTs makes me want to turn away from digital disposability and focus on things you can touch. I considered asking for a donation or putting together a Patreon but I already have stamps, so I think we’re square. If you think this is a thing you might enjoy, email me your address at serialdispatch@gmail.com and I’ll add you to the list. The first one will get mailed in February.

To all the newer subscribers let me say that I’m sorry. I feel like I’m not keeping up my end of the bargain. You just signed up to get a weekly bit of awesomeness and here I am telling you I’m shutting it down. Well I thought I’d put together some examples of what you may have missed to get a feel for what I was trying to do. Then you can decide if you are interested in receiving the newsletter in the mail. Eventually I'll try to put together a better archive for all of the emails. I have a couple of other projects that I'm working on right now. Once those are available to be enjoyed I'll let you know via all the normal outlets and tweets and instastories.

Friend of the Week

Toody is this week's friend. It's been awesome watching her go from a little puppy to an amazing megadog! Every time I see her I think she's doubled in size! "Hi. I’m Toody and I’m a Sagittarius. I’m into blueberries, digging up the garden, and mom-person’s toes. Voted cutest puppy of the day 2/2 vet visits."

I hope you've enjoyed reading these as much I've enjoyed putting them together.
Solid,
Tim
