New Companies, Launches, and Updates
In November, two startups launched new sites: Save1.com and CharitySound.com. Save1, founded by Josh Cerbaugh and Blair Reynolds, is an online coupon site that allows shoppers to do good as well as score deals. For every coupon used, they donate 3 meals to the hungry.
Charity Sound is a music sharing platform that promotes new artists and their music while supporting charitable causes. Their team includes Benjamin Briceno, Jake Shelby, Alex Anderson and Dave McHarness.
Have a consumer product looking for national distribution? The We Dream Center, founded by Tim Linnet of Linnet Pharmaceuticals, is a resource based in Redding that assists entrepreneurs in placing their product nationally. Call Hope at the EDC for more info. 224-4920
On Wednesday, November 19, 2014, FireWhat, a startup specializing in wildfire mapping technologies, held GIS Day at their training facility in Dunsmuir.
In partnership with Shasta College, educators and students from Anderson, Dunsmuir and Shasta College toured GIS equipped vehicles, met GIS professionals and learned about real-world applications. Students also participated in a city-wide Geo hunt using GIS mapping technology. National Geographic Senior Cartographer, Martin Gamache, concluded the day by presenting a workshop on the art and science it takes to create his maps.
Wildcard Expands to North Bay Area
Wildcard is partnering with Mesa Distributing to distribute to the Sonoma and Marin areas. They received their first delivery of Wildcard brews last month. They strive to source products and services within 500 miles of our facility as much as possible and intend to exclusively sell beers within that same area. Wildcard is committed to remain Northern California based and focused.
