Report: Having a Child Before Becoming an Adult: Exploring the Economic Impact in a Multi-Country Analysis
Despite the progress made for girls and women under the Sustainable Development Goals, there are still significant data gaps in understanding the realities facing girls and adolescents —especially in regard to their sexual and reproductive health, employment, and compensation. Women Deliver, in partnership with Population Council, recently published a study that explores the question: When a woman has a child before the age of 18, how does that impact her economic future? The report provides recommendations for how advocates, policymakers, and community leaders can use this data to ensure that women of all ages are able to participate fully in their economy and society.

Over the past year, Women Deliver held several consultations with donors, international organizations, and women-focused civil society organizations (CSOs) on what a feminist humanitarian system must look like. What we heard was that transforming the humanitarian system must begin by more meaningfully supporting women-focused CSOs who are overlooked agents of change in crisis settings. This action brief outlines the challenges and opportunities for shifting more funding and power to women-focused CSOs, and why this shift is key for building a feminist humanitarian system.
