The Power of Partnerships
This week, advocates and governments gather in New York for the High Level Political Forum (HLPF) to review progress toward the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). While a different set of goals are reviewed each year, one remains consistently on the agenda, SDG17 – Strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize the global partnership for sustainable development.
Partnerships are essential to progress. They bring together individuals and organizations with diverse skills, experiences, perspectives, and resources to address shared challenges. And while SDG5 – which focuses on gender equality – isn’t on the agenda for review this year, gender is cross cutting across all SDGs and partnerships play a key role in ensuring girls and women are part of the integrated solutions needed to accelerate progress.
This month, the Deliver for Good Campaign shines a spotlight on diverse examples of unexpected partnerships and sustainable financing models that put girls and women at the center of SDG implementation. As you head to HLPF, or follow the conversation online using #DeliverforGood and #HLPF2019, we challenge you to learn from these examples and think about unexpected ways you can work together to drive transformative change.
