Updates to Spirit of Youth Awards
Spirit of Youth has combined forces with Channel 2, KTUU. KTUU will feature Spirit of Youth nominees in news segments throughout the year.

In addition, 11 youth will be honored at the 2015 Spirit of Youth Awards March 28th at the Anchorage Museum. Each individual award recipient will receive a scholarship from the UA College Savings Plan of at least a $1,500 and 11 runners-up will each receive a $500 scholarship.
Alaska Performance Scholarship Webinar
If you plan on going to college in Alaska, then the Alaska Performance Scholarship is worth applying for. You could earn up to $4,755 a year toward your postsecondary education!

UNIGO 5 Simple Words Scholarship is asking teens 14 and up, "Which five words illustrate what your life will be like 10 years after college graduation?"

Applying is simple! Register or Login to Unigo to get the scholarship application. Tell them your five simple words. Then explain your answer in 200 words or less. Four $10,000 winners will be selected. Creativity is encouraged!

Helicopter 2050 Challenge
What do you think a helicopter of the future would look like?

Enter the 4th Annual Helicopter 2050 Challenge and you could win $1000 and a trip to the Sikorsky technologies headquarters in Stratford, CT to attend the award presentation and tour the facility.

The challenge is open to youth 16 and under. Click here to participate.

Join the U.S. Senate Youth Program
If you're a member of your school's student council, you could represent Alaska at the United States Senate Youth Program. It's is a unique educational experience for students interested in pursuing careers in public service.

Two student leaders from each state will spend a week in Washington, D.C., experiencing their national government in action. Student delegates will hear major policy addresses by Senators, cabinet members, officials from the Departments of State and Defense and directors of other federal agencies, as well as participate in a meeting with a Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court.

Each delegate will also be awarded a $5,000 College Scholarship for undergraduate studies.

FRA Essay Contest
Enter the Fleet Reserve Association Student Essay Contest and you could win up to $5,000! Just write a 350-word essay explaining "Why I am proud to be an American."

The contest is open to all students in grades 7-12.

Each year, more than 150 youth are nominated for the Spirit of Youth Award.  Nominations are made by anyone who wishes to recognize a hard-working, inspiring teenager or youth group in one of 11 award categories.  

Spirit of Youth is governed by a board of directors and the Teen Advisory Council.
