The Holy Land Story

Join The Return Team, as we share scripture and join with you in prayer "on location" from Israel. Watch Now!

Isaiah 40:2 says, "Speak tenderly to Jerusalem, and proclaim to her that her hard service has been completed, that her sin has been paid for, that she has received from the Lord’s hand double for all her sins."

As we sought the Lord about what to tell you about these troubling developments, the Holy Spirit led me to Isaiah 22:22. It says: “I will place on his shoulder the key to the house of David; what he opens no one can shut, and what he shuts no one can open” (NIV).

The apostle John quotes this verse in Revelation 3:7 regarding Jesus’ message to the church in Philadelphia in modern-day Turkey.

“To the angel of the church in Philadelphia write: These are the words of him who is holy and true, who holds the key of David. What he opens no one can shut, and what he shuts no one can open.”

The house of David was constructed on Mount Zion during the time of King David. The key to the house involved both spiritual and civil authority. At the time, keys were often hung on wooden pegs on walls in secure locations.

Deuteronomy 1:8 declares, "See, I have set the land before you; go in and possess the land which the Lord swore to your fathers—to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob—to give to them and their descendants after them."
