Welcome to my July 2021 Newsletter

My summer timetable is now in full swing. I have a mixture of online and face to face classes running each week for you to choose from.

A huge thanks to you for supporting my classes both online and in person. The transition back into studios has so far felt quite safe and immensely fulfilling. It has been lovely to see and connect with returning and new students once more.

The studio classes in Chesterfield, Dronfield and Bamford are going well. I am also continuing with my Zoom classes on Mondays and Tuesdays as many of you enjoy the convenience of accessing my classes in this format, from my home to yours. Remember if you are not able to come into the studio there is also the option of joining my studio Yin class on Wednesday evenings 8-9pm and my Yoga for all class on Friday mornings 9.30-11am via Zoom. I am developing my skills to teach this new hybrid style class, simultaneously teaching online and in the studio at the same time!

I am back teaching in schools and my new children’s classes at Bamford are slowly building, they will continue until 15th July then resume once more in September once schools restart.

Details of all my classes, where, when and for whom can be found on my website, please visit here. In these times it is essential to book so contact me to reserve a place. A brief outline of classes is below.
For those of you waiting for my Monday morning Holmesfield class to resume I am pleased to say that the church hall is now booked, so the class will restart on 6th September. This is my general yoga class, it will be from 9.45-11.15am and cost £10 per class or £48 for a 6 week block. I look forward to seeing my Holmesfield group again.

I hope you are able to have some kind of holiday this summer, I know most of us are holidaying in the UK this year. We are lucky to have beautiful places on our doorstep but I think this summer it’s a case of finding somewhere not too crowded! On that note I shall be off in our campervan with my family in August. I will only be teaching in the first week of August from the 2nd until the 6th then for the following three weeks I will be on holiday (the 9th until the 27th). I shall be back teaching from the 1st of September hopefully all refreshed and ready to return.

Now that I am back in studios again I have the space to film some videos. I like filming and sharing postures, sequences and mindful movements from my classes and personal practice so that you can get a flavour of my current teaching. I’ve included some videos  below for you to watch and see what I am up to. I post these and more on my Facebook page and Instagram account, links are at the bottom of this email if you want to stay connected.

I hope we can all have a good summer, keep moving, stay safe and I shall see you on the mat.
Kind regards,
Nic
Please read before practising:
Although there are tremendous benefits to overall health and wellbeing, yoga can be physically challenging and carries with it risks that cannot be entirely eliminated.  These include the risk of personal injury, or the exacerbation of existing injuries or conditions, or damage to property around you during your participation.
Please note, these videos are pre-recorded and cannot be adapted to suit any particular requirements you may have.  In the absence of any negligence or other breach of duty by your teacher, following these videos is entirely at your own risk.
A Yin 'Foot to sky' pose to target the backs of the thighs and the Urinary Bladder meridian. The belt's circle of resistance feels reassuring, gives that feeling of connection between the head and foot.

The opposite leg can be bent with the foot on the floor or extended along the mat, the lifted leg can have a slight bend in the knee. Find the most favourable position for your body, always working towards that soft, sustainable edge. If the belt around the head does not work for you hold the belt with your hands instead. Release and soften into the pose to work into the deeper connective tissues, hold for 1, 2 , 3 minutes or more. Come out of the pose slowly to a neutral position to experience the rebound and reset of the body. Pause there for a few moments before swapping over to the other side.
A sequence from my symmetry and asymmetry theme which starts on all 4’s, it features low lunges and revolved twists to enjoy.
A standing sequence which flows through the warrior poses, also some downward and upward dog action.
Yoga for your body, mind and wellbeing.
