Jkhoo Designs Newsletter

August 2014

Hello everyone and a warm welcome to our new readers!

Where has the month gone? Time flies doesn't it? I think the glorious weather we have been blessed with this summer has something to do with it.

July has kept me busy. Time to take a step back and review our business plans as we grow. This is important because it allows us to serve you better. All I can say is that there was a lot of planning and some reorganising. So be prepared to see some changes in the near future.

What is in this issue...

  • Birthstone of the month
  • Metal Clay
  • Spitalfields revisited
  • Pinterest updates
  • Wirework workshops
  • Snap to Win competition
Until next time ...
Have fun, be merry and be safe but above all be glamorous!

Love,
Jeanne Pring

Birthstone - August

July Birthstone
The lustrous and timeless Peridot symbolising love, truth, faithfulness and loyalty - also associated with fame, dignity and protection.

"Wear a peridot or for thee,
No conjugal fidelity.
The August born without this stone,
'Tis said, must live unloved alone."

Magical Metal Clay

JKhoo Designs Fine Silver
One never stops learning and July sees me learning a new skill working with the magical Metal Clay! I had so much fun learning this new media at the London Jewellery School taught by the beautiful and well established Sima Vaziry. Needless to say, I am totally hooked on this new venture of mine.

Metal Clay, specifically Silver Metal Clay, in its finished form is referred to as fine silver. Unlike sterling silver which is 92.5% silver, fine silver is 99.9% silver which makes it softer and non-tarnishable. It is therefore more maleable and it takes on textures really well allowing each piece to be unique, very much in line with our business motto.

I was quietly pleased with my first learning pieces but I still have a lot of hard work ahead in order to perfect my techniques. I hope you will be patient with me while I undertake this journey before I can present to you my fine silver collection (because nothing but the best for you).

In the meantime, I do have on paper a design concept for my first learning pieces, to be turned into a beautiful piece of jewellery, maybe two. If it turns out well, I might even share it with you next month.

Spitalfields Revisited

By popular demand, I am back with Bert & Gert's Vintage Markets at Old Spitalfields Market. You can find me near Lamb Street entrance in front of Wagamama. I will tweet (@jkhoopring) if my location is different.

I will also have a new stock of my sterling silver wired ring collection - the previous two batches went like hot cakes, so come grab yours before you miss out again.

Jacquie testimonial
'Thank you so much!!! I love it! I am so happy love you!' - Jacquie
Testimonials are vital for us, not only are they feedback from you, our valued customers, it also shows any prospective new customers what other people are saying about our products and services.

We have received testimonials from many of you for which we are very grateful. To show our appreciation, we will be featuring your testimonials in our monthly newsletters.

August Testimonial Star
To start us off, we recently received one from Jacquie showing off her beautiful bespoke Jkhoo Designs wireworked Tigerseye bangle. Jacquie has very dainty wrists and the challange was to design a statement piece that does not look out of place. I think her expression says it all!

I made the bangle adjustable and can be moulded to her wrist shape, sitting nicely where she wants it. This was important because Jacquie lives in Australia and would be difficult for me to make adjustments for her. The golden Tigerseye is beautifully framed with coils of gilt wire and accented with two complimenting blue Tigerseye beads on either side, visually making the piece smaller than it is. Just like all my jewellery, this piece was entirely handmade. If like Jacquie, you would like a piece of jewellery made especially for your, I would love to hear from you.
