AUTUMN SEASON OF CHANGE

Autumnal Ayurvedic Tips

According to Ayurveda the season of change is a vulnerable time for the body to adapt to the cooler weather as illnesses are more commonly manifested at the junctions of seasons.

As the external environment changes around us we need to make adjustments to these changes to prevent illness.

Five Ayurvedic Tips To Optimise Your Health and Wellbeing in Autumn
  1. Drink warm or hot water and Ginger Tea throughout the day – detoxing to the body and increases digestive fire (Agni).
  2. Detoxify your system and boost your system with Triphala. This traditional Ayurvedic formula not only cleanses and detoxifies your system but is also a rich source of Vitamin C and antioxidants.
  3. Introduce more warm, cooked and unctuous foods, and try to eat your main meal at lunchtime when the digestive fire is peaking.
  4. Self-Massage (Abhyanga) with warm, black sesame oil. This is a nourishing and detoxifying experience which aids in the elimination of impurities from the body, whilst calming and relaxing the nervous system.
  5. Gandush – Oil Pulling. This practice of swilling sesame oil in the mouth draws out toxins in the body and improves oral hygiene. This practice purifies the entire system as it holds that each section of the tongue is connected to a different organ.

This class offers supported yoga poses and gentle stretching to bring about ease of movement in the body.

Props are used to allow stretching in tight and restricted areas of the body.

MINDFUL MOVEMENT MASTERCLASS

The magic and beauty in Vinyasa practice is in the grace and fluidity of moving cleanly, efficiently and mindfully through postures.

Early in our practice, we can easily be focussed on trying to get to the next posture and the next and lose the very presence in the practice that gives it grace.

This 3 hour in-depth class will take you deeper into presence, cultivating mindful movement for your practice and your daily life.
  • Build deep deliberate awareness of how to move intelligently
  • Learn simple structural alignment focus areas that allow you to move with ease between postures
  • Practice and reflect upon a simple series of graceful flows, repeated to encourage knowledge, comfort and mastery in your flow
  • Go deeper into breath, learning to ride the breath through postures and transitions
  • Flow with moments of live improvised movement
  • mindful music to 'dance with' in your practice
Facilitated by Mira Rao and assisted by guest teacher Rob Findlay.

Sunday May 28, 1.00pm - 4.00pm
Cost: $59 full, $49 Concession
