Ignite Sage is Coming!

Bootcamp in February and Event in March!

Bootcamp: February 25th, 2014
6:00 pm
Location TBA
Ignite Sage: March 18th, 2014
6:00 pm State Capitol, Auditorium

Please come to our next meeting Tuesday the 28th of January.  The business meeting starts at 6:00pm with the Ignite Bootcamp to follow at 6:30.

The bootcamp will feature an overview of the Ignite format and tips and tricks for making great presentations.  We will also show some sample presentations (including clips from Ignite Boise presentations from our own Sage community)!  This will be a great opportunity to see how easy and fun putting together an Ignite presentation can be.

Then, save the date for Ignite Sage on March 18th!  whether you intend to present, or simply support others who are doing so, this will be the don't miss event of the Spring.   We hope to have a true community effort, with presentors coming from the ranks of our students, parents, and staff.  Presentations will be creative, interesting, informative, and most of all FUN!

IB Learner Profile

We are going to start featuring one aspect of the IB learner profile per newsletter.  A short overview of the IB learner profile can be found here: http://tinyurl.com/oz3vf98

In February, and in anticipation of Presidents day, we are featuring the attribute of being Principled.

From the IB website: as Principled IB learners we strive to "act with integrity and honesty, with a strong sense of fairnes and justice, and with respect for the dignity and rights of people everywhere.  We take responsibility for our actions and their consequences."

Science Bowl 2014

Congratulations to both Sage teams in the National Science Bowl (http://science.energy.gov/wdts/nsb/). After several weeks of practice the science bowl teams were able to show off their knowledge and sportsmanship at the regional finals at Boise State last weekend. Both teams participated in a round robin competition and then a tournament, with one team making it to the quarter final round! All of the participants seemed to have had a great time and were eager to try again next year.

Planning ahead...

We are beginning our planning for next year already.  If you think you might be interested in heading up a committee or workgroup for the network next year, please let us know.  We are looking to fill one officer position (Secretary), and several other positions as well.  We will have signup sheets (as well as descriptions) for various positions available at all of our SCN meetings over the remainder of the year.  Later in the year we will also be posting available positions and descriptions on the network web site.  Generally speaking volunteers are taking on a first come first served basis, so if there is something you are particularly interested in helping out with let us know sooner than later :)

To let us know about your interest, please email us.
