Bringing Awareness into Life Through Yoga and Mindfulness

A parent talk with Aya Nozawa & Therese George:  -
Sushi making for kids and dinner for all :)
Thursday May 8 2014 5pm at the ES School
Therese George is a mindfulness teacher and practitioner who has been working with eSage for the past 6 weeks on mindfulness.  What is" Mindfulness"?  Well, mindfulness is paying attention: on purpose, in the present moment, non judgmentally.  Mindfulness represents not only mind but also the totality of our experience in relating to the world through all the senses.  It's not a static "thing" to obtain but rather a lively and dynamic process of living fully.  By being mindful, we are choosing to be awake and connected, connected to the workings of the mind and body as well as to the nature of things as they are.
The Mindfulness movement is rapidly growing through out the world and is being taught and practiced in areas of life such as, education, healthcare, business and family life.  There are many benefits to practicing mindfulness such as: learning readiness, emotional regulation, self-understanding and inner wisdom and compassion and empathy.
we hope you will join us for an evening of contemplative practices such as yoga and mindfulness and experience for yourself the benefits of these truly beautiful practices.

Year End Camping Trip

The 2nd Annual Sage All School Camping Trip is schedule for May 30th through June 1.

It is important that you make reservations as space is limited.Camping trip registration is still on. Most of the immediately available "double" spots for trailers have been taken. If you still want a double spot let me know in the notes. If all of the single parking spots don't fill up there will be double spots left, but don't count on it. If you are signing up now, be prepared to sleep in a tent.
For more complete details on the trip, and how to sign up, go the this link

Thank you to everyone who came out (or tuned in from home) to our first annual Ignite Sage event.  The presentations were amazing, the audience was fantastic and pretty much everyone had a great time!  (the picture at the top of the newsletter is from Mr Downey's presenation)

Soon, we'll have the video from IPTV and will be able to post the individual presentations to YouTube for everyone to enjoy!

We'll be doing it again next year (we even had a couple of people suggest we think about doing it twice) so keep an eye out for the announcement and your minds churning with great topics to present.

PTO Status Update

If you were at the last SCN meeting (or pay close attention to all of our mailings) you know that the Network has been given clearance to formally organize ourselves into a Parent Teacher Organization (PTO).  A bylaws committee has been hard at work creating bylaws, articles of incorporation, setting up an election for the first board of directors and creating a vision for the network going forward. Out of this process has emerged our (draft) initial vision statement and purpose:

The purpose of the Sage Community Network is to foster and facilitate community minded projects that support Sage International School of Boise; to promote open communication and collaboration between parents, teachers, students, administration, and the Sage Board of Directors and to develop a community of “citizens of the world” capable of exemplifying the IB profile attributes routinely in their day to day lives.

  • To lend our energy, talent and time to enhance the quality of education and school environment
  • To support teachers to ensure the highest physical, mental and social education
  • To invite a diverse and broad participation from parents
  • To promote a team atmosphere among parents, teachers and administration
  • To foster a sense of community pride
  • To be mindful of, support, represent, and build positively upon the Sage International School brand
Look for more information both on the status of the PTO and election of directors in the near future.
