Come and hear about 'Resurrecting the Shakespeare Hut'...

We would like to invite you to join us on Tuesday 20 December at the Camden Local Studies & Archives Centre (located at Level 2 of the Holborn Library) to visit the exhibition,  hear a talk and take part in a Q&A session with some of those involved in the recent 'Resurrecting the Shakespeare Hut' project.  This fascinating exhibition celebrates a little known story of New Zealand soldiers, Shakespeare and suffragettes in Bloomsbury during the Great War.
The occasion is also an opportunity for us to invite you  to join us for a drink and chat before the holidays.

Date: Tuesday, 20 December
Time: 6pm - 8pm (please arrive by 7pm in order to be let in)
Location:  Level 2, Holborn Library, 32-38 Theobalds Road, London, WC1X 8PA
This is a free event. Please RSVP to this email to let us know if you intend to join us.

About the project:  In 2016, Digital Drama and the Mustard Club joined forces with researchers from King’s College London and staff and students of the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine to commemorate the Shakespeare Hut, a YMCA hostel for New Zealand servicemen on leave in London during WW1.  The Hut stood on the School’s Keppel Street Site from 1916 and was a home from home for ANZAC troops until 1919.  Digital Drama successfully bid for funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund which supported an installation, an oral history project about Camden in the War, a young curators digital badge scheme and the Centenary Day event which combined a re-enactment of the original opening ceremony on 11 August 1916.  You can find much more information on the dedicated page of the website of the London School of Hygiene and Topical Medicine (including podcasts and audio with those involved).

Please also contact us if you have a general interest in this subject matter and would particularly like to be part of any future conversations and events in connection with these themes.  Also note that the exhibition will be open until 23 December, so if you cannot join us on the 20th, we would highly recommend visiting whilst it's there.
