GEALC's Star Celebrity

Many of you may have seen GEALC's Tai Chi instructor (and Finance Officer), Rita Ying, appear on the front page of local Leader newspaper. Sadly we didn't receive the $1000 Leader Grant but we received some great publicity for the centre. Rita will be performing a Tai Chi demonstration at the Rotary Multicultural Fun Run on 22 November at Caulfield Race course. SBS will be covering the event so our star celebrity will be on T.V.!  Well done Rita!!!!

30 Years Celebration

Preparations are underway for GEALC's 30-year celebration in 2016. We will be producing a multicultural recipe book and will be launching the book at a multicultural lunch during Diversity Week (March 2016). Students are encouraged to submit recipes to be included in the book by 15 November. Please call 9578 8996 or email info@gealc.org.au for more information about how you can get involved.
Some Good & Some Bad News

Keeping things clean!
We would like to thank Rotary Club of Glen Eira for donating a brand new dishwasher. Throughout any given week, GEALC has 20 different classes running with at least 8 students per class. During the class break time, students are offered refreshments supplied by our centre.  Our dishwasher is used daily to ensure all crockery provided is hygienically cleaned so it is an important piece of equipment!! We are extremely grateful for the donation.

GEALC vandalised!
Sadly Glen Eira Adult Learning Centre was vandalised on 29th June 2015. Rocks were thrown through the window at the back and the border around our new Indigenous Garden was ripped out! Our very own detective, Ann Manning, found a mobile phone where the incident took place which was then submitted to police as evidence!

New English language programs

In addition to our ESL programs, we will be offering a new "English Through Cooking" program next term (see attached flyer) and we are also hoping to run English programs in Carnegie in 2016 and are inviting potential students to attend a FREE afternoon tea on Thursday 8 October at Carnegie Church of Christ (see attached flyer for more info). We would appreciate your help in promoting these activities.

New Computer programs

We will be offering a range of computer classes to suit all learning needs from beginners to advanced. For more information click here.
In addition we are offering short computer courses in Shopping on the internet, Using a tablet, Making the most of photos and Social media.
