Would you like to explore urban space through drawing?

Come to a drawing workshop on the deck of a Minesweeper boat - led by artist Alexandra Blum

Sunday 16th October 2016, 10.30am – 4.30pm on board the Minesweeper Collective’s boat moored in Deptford Creek, south east London

Drawing from the deck of this fascinating moored Minesweeper, we'll use the dynamic relationship between the boat, neighbouring remnants of older buildings, rapidly expanding new constructions and surrounding creek as the starting point for our drawings.

Focussing on movement through time and space, we will abandon static single moments drawn from a fixed perspective, and explore compressed space, peripheral vision, actual and implied movement and layering of space and time within an image.

Suitable for all levels - The workshop will be a mixture of group and individual tuition, so whether you're new to drawing or have spent many years drawing, come along and experience the urban world from a new perspective
.
Alexandra Blum has over 15 years’ experience of drawing urban space. Recent projects include spending 3 years charting the transformation of Dalston, east London with drawings made from the streets, within the vast Dalston Square construction site and from within one of the completed flats, a home on the 17th floor.  Drawings from this project were exhibited at the Geffrye Museum, London Transport Museum and Hackney Museum and awarded the David Gluck Memorial Bursary for Drawing.  Alex was also a prize winner in the  ING Drawing Bursary 2015 exhibition and she is a finalist in the 2016 Derwent Art Prize. Further information about her work can be seen at www.alexblum.co.uk
