Summer Schedule

There are 13 events scheduled from June through August, with many opportunities to interact with ERM naturalists as they lead hiking and swamp tromp tours, photography workshops, yoga sessions, and running events.

2nd Annual Scott Cowan Memorial Scholarship Awarded to Daggerwing Nature Center Volunteer
Friends of Daggerwing Nature Center has awarded the second annual Scott Cowan Memorial Scholarship to Muskaan Tulsyani, a 2019 International Baccalaureate graduate of Atlantic Community High School. Muskaan accepted the $500 award at the nature center’s volunteer appreciation night event on May 31.
Office of Equal Opportunity Seeking Proposals for the FY 2020 Handicap Accessibility Awareness Grant Program
The Palm Beach County Office of Equal Opportunity is seeking proposals from qualified agencies to improve accessibility and equal opportunity, and promote or increase awareness of the rights and ambitions of persons with disabilities through an awareness program.
Highridge Family Center Receives Trauma Informed Care Model Certification
The certification encourages, sustains and reinforces Highridge Family Center's commitment to the standards of a trauma informed care environment for clients and staff by emphasizing the following seven commitments: nonviolence, emotional intelligence, social learning, open communication, social responsibility, democracy, growth and change.
Results of 2019 Point-In-Time Homeless Count
During the 24-hour count held in January, the survey identified a total of 1,397 individuals as homeless. This is an increase of approximately 6 percent from 2018, but is down 13 percent from 2017. The 2019 PIT count indicated a decrease of homelessness in the north region of the county and an increase in the south region.

Free Fourth of July Celebration at Sunset Cove Amphitheater
The Palm Beach County Parks and Recreation Department and the West Boca Community Council present the 12th annual Fourth of July Celebration at Sunset Cove Amphitheater. This free community event will feature a kids interactive fun zone, a welcome booth and prize wheel, live music by Havoc 305 and a dazzling fireworks display.
Don’t Miss Shakespeare by the Sea at Seabreeze Amphitheater
The Palm Beach County Parks and Recreation Department and Palm Beach Shakespeare Festival present Shakespeare by the Sea XXIX at Seabreeze Amphitheater. This free community event returns with the classic "Romeo & Juliet," one of William Shakespeare's best-known tragedies.
Riverbend Rocks in July
Riverbend Park is operated by the Palm Beach County Parks and Recreation Department and is located at 9060 Indiantown Road, Jupiter. For more information on Riverbend Park, visit www.pbcnature.com. All programs are by reservation only. Please call (561) 741-1359 to make program reservations. Payment (cash or check) is due the day of program. Programs require a minimum number registered participants. Participants/guardians are required to sign a participation form for each program. All children must be accompanied by an adult.

Okeeheelee Nature Center is located in Okeeheelee Park at 7715 Forest Hill Boulevard, west of West Palm Beach. Big Doings at Daggerwing
Daggerwing Nature Center is operated by the Palm Beach County Parks and Recreation Department and is located in Burt Aaronson South County Regional Park at 11435 Park Access Road, off Cain Boulevard between Glades Road and Yamato Road, west of Boca Raton. Boardwalk at Daggerwing Nature Center to Close for Construction

Construction of the Daggerwing Nature Center boardwalk and porch is anticipated to start in July and is estimated to take 4 to 6 months to complete.

  • The boardwalk will be closed to the public until all work is complete.
  • The hours of operation for the nature center building will remain the same during construction.

On Saturday, July 20, the E4 Life: Green Health & Wellness Expo will be held at the South Florida Science Museum and Aquarium. Enjoy the exhibits inside the building, then come outside and pick up a voucher good for two free native trees or shrubs at the Native Canopy Education Program's booth.
