The Conference of Minority Transit Officials (COMTO) Palm Beach County Chapter, founded by Palm Tran Executive Director Clinton B. Forbes, was announced the winner of the prestigious Community Engagement Award at COMTO's annual transportation conference in Tampa. The award recognizes a chapter that demonstrates excellence in the planning and implementation of community activities or events that enhance COMTO's image.

Palm Beach County, Riviera Beach CRA and Community Come Together to Repair and Renovate Blind War Veteran’s Home
The Riviera Beach home of Jeffrey Perkins, a blind military veteran who served in the U.S. Army, had fallen into a state of severe disrepair. In addition to a long list of smaller repairs and improvements that were needed, sections of the roof had caved in as a result of termite and water damage.
Parks & Recreation Announces Name of New Squirrel Mascot
The Palm Beach County Parks and Recreation Department has chosen "Oakly" as the name of its new squirrel mascot, after receiving more than a dozen name submissions from Palm Beach County students, as part of its recent mascot naming contest.
Water Utilities Department Announces Temporary Modification to Water Disinfection Process
In order to maintain compliance with regulatory water quality requirements in the water distribution system, the Palm Beach County Water Utilities Department (PBCWUD) will temporarily modify its water disinfection process between Sunday, July 14 and Saturday, August 3, 2019.
Palm Beach County First in Florida to Adopt Ordinance for Sterile Needle and Syringe Exchange Program
Palm Beach County became the first county in the state of Florida to adopt an Infectious Disease Elimination Program ordinance that allows the establishment a Syringe Exchange Program within its geographic boundaries. The Board of County Commissioners adopted the ordinance pursuant to legislation signed by Governor Ron DeSantis establishing the Infectious Disease Elimination Act (IDEA).

Celebrate the Arts with Arts4All Florida – Palm Beach County
Arts4All Florida – Palm Beach County will host its annual "Celebration of the Arts" on Friday, August 2, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the CMAA Therapeutic Recreation Complex in John Prince Park.
Okeeheelee Park to Host 2019 GOODE Water Ski National Championships
More than 600 top water ski athletes, ages 6 to 90, will compete at the Ski Club of the Palm Beaches inside Okeeheelee Park on August 6-10 during the 77th GOODE Water Ski National Championships. Admission for spectators is free for this event, which will begin at 8 a.m. each day.

Riverbend Park is operated by the Palm Beach County Parks and Recreation Department and is located at 9060 Indiantown Road, Jupiter. For more information on Riverbend Park, visit www.pbcnature.com. All programs are by reservation only. Please call (561) 741-1359 to make program reservations. Payment (cash or check) is due the day of program. Programs require a minimum number registered participants. Participants/guardians are required to sign a participation form for each program. All children must be accompanied by an adult.

Notice Update of Temporary Closure at Green Cay Nature Center and Wetlands
Green Cay Nature Center and Wetlands will be closed to the public during construction of a new nature center roof. Construction is anticipated to start in late September and is estimated to take 4 to 6 months to complete.  The wetlands and wildlife will not be affected by this work.
