Sixth Annual Countdown 2 Zero Pet Adoption Event Sept. 28
Volunteers are needed for the sixth annual Countdown 2 Zero (C2Z) Adoption Event presented by the Lois Pope LIFE Foundation. The event will be held on Saturday, September 28, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. inside the air-conditioned East Expo Center at the South Florida Fairgrounds in West Palm Beach.

Palm Beach County Receives APA Award of Merit for Implementation of Glades Region Master Plan
Palm Beach County, through the Department of Housing & Economic Sustainability, has earned an Award of Merit from the American Planning Association (APA) Florida in the Planning Project category. The county's implementation of the Glades Region Master Plan (GRMP) was recognized as an outstanding planning project at the APA Florida 2019 Annual Conference in Miramar Beach.
Parks & Recreation Wins FRPA Environmental Sustainability Agency Excellence Award
The Florida Recreation and Park Association (FRPA) selected the Palm Beach County Parks and Recreation Department as the recipient of the 2019 Agency Excellence Award in the environmental sustainability category.

Halloween Hoot ‘n’ Howl at Daggerwing Nature Center
Bring the kids in costume to Daggerwing Nature Center on Friday, October 25, from 6-8 p.m., for family-friendly Halloween games and crafts* while learning about nocturnal creatures such as owls, toads, snakes and spiders. *While supplies last.
“Waggin’ at the Waterpark” at Coconut Cove and Calypso Bay
Bring your dogs and watch as they make a splash, get a good workout and meet new friends; you may meet new friends too! Palm Beach County Animal Care and Control will also be on site with adoptions. New this year is a "Pup Up Shop" featuring pet related merchandise for sale, pet nonprofits, a variety of local pet rescues, and lots of giveaways.

On Wednesday, October 16, the Palm Beach County Parks and Recreation Department and the West Boca Community Council present The Long Run featuring Food Truck Invasion at Sunset Cove Amphitheater.

Okeeheelee Nature Center is operated by the Palm Beach County Parks and Recreation Department and is located in Okeeheelee Park at 7715 Forest Hill Boulevard, west of West Palm Beach. For more information on Okeeheelee Nature Center and other county-operated nature centers, visit www.pbcnature.com. All programs are by reservation only, unless otherwise stated.  Programs require payment at the time of registration/reservation. Register and pay online at www.pbcparks.com. Please select "Online Services", choose "Register/Pay for Program" from the drop-down menu, click the "Nature" icon, and then search for the program by name. Riverbend Park is Fall-tastic
Riverbend Park is operated by the Palm Beach County Parks and Recreation Department and is located at 9060 Indiantown Road, Jupiter. For more information on Riverbend Park, visit www.pbcnature.com. All programs are by reservation only. Please visit www.pbcparks.com to make program reservations. Under "Online Services" click on Register/Pay for Program. Login with your username and password. New users must create a household account online, (follow online instructions under "Login"). For every program, participants/guardians are required to sign a participation form. All children must be accompanied by an adult. All programs run approximately 90 minutes depending upon experience level of participants. Please bring drinking water, sunscreen, and insect repellent to each program. For questions or more information, please contact Riverbend Park at 561-741-1359.

The Palm Beach County Parks and Recreation Department presents Legends on the Lawn featuring: The Rock Doctors, a free concert at Canyon Amphitheater on Saturday, October 19, from 7-9 p.m.
“Carlin Park After Dark” Concert Series Kicks Off October 26 at Seabreeze Amphitheater
Every other month, from October through April, Seabreeze Amphitheater will feature an amazing tribute band. The series kick offs on Saturday, October 26, with Crystal Visions of Fleetwood Mac. Enjoy some of the best sounds of the seventies from 7 to 9 p.m.

New residential yard waste curbside collection guidelines will go into effect October 1, 2019
Notice Update of Temporary Closure at Green Cay Nature Center
Green Cay Nature Center and Wetlands will be closed to the public during construction of a new nature center roof. Construction is anticipated to start in November and is estimated to take 4 to 6 months to complete. The wetlands and wildlife will not be affected by this work.

Classes meet at the Mounts Auditorium at 531 N. Military Trail in West Palm Beach on Wednesday mornings, September 11 through October 9, from 9 to 11:30 a.m.  They repeat on Saturday mornings at the same time and place starting on September 14 and ending on October 12.
