Dear Friend,

Hello from the Rocky Mountains.

We’re writing to you from nearly 9,000 feet elevation here in the mountains of Colorado. Times are definitely interesting. So much has happened since our last newsletter.

As we’ve shared in previous newsletters, each year at this time all of the directors of the Charis Bible College locations around the world gather here in Colorado for three days of meetings. Then we will attend Andrew Wommack’s Summer Family Bible Conference. As I type this out I’m looking over a spectacular view of Pikes Peak and the Rocky Mountains.

Grace & Faith Conference

Grace and Faith was the most powerful Andrew Wommack conference we have yet attended.

Earlier this month we attended the Grace and Faith conference. I think it was the best conference of Andrew Wommack’s that I have had the pleasure to attend. The teaching was life changing. Pastor Duane Sheriff gave some especially powerful messages.

Through out the conference there was buzz about the new Charis campus opening in Scotland this fall. We also were part of the meeting that was held for folks who are interested in attending Charis Bible College. That meeting generated several applications for students who are looking to attend Charis in Scotland this fall!

New Team Members

Lisa and I are thrilled to welcome Andrew and Jasmine Sharp to the Charis Dumfries team. We first met the Sharps five years ago in Belfast on our mission trip as second year Charis students. They were attending Charis at the time. After they graduated they both worked as part of the Charis Belfast team for two years.

Recently they’ve been living in Edinburgh to be closer to their grandchildren. Long story short, their family is moving away. So Andrew and Jasmine prayed and asked God what their next steps should be. God prompted them to reach out to Lisa and I to see if we thought there might be a place for them on the Charis Dumfries team. Absolutely!

I can’t tell you how blessed we are to have their wisdom and experience joining our team. They have stepped right in to help out even before they relocate to Dumfries. In fact, they are fielding the inbound phone calls for Charis Dumfries while Lisa and I are here in the USA.

Securing a Location

We are very close to having a location secured for the Bible College in Dumfries. At this point we are working through the final details so that we can sign the lease.

We are excited that God brought us a wonderful facility which will help create an environment ideally suited to foster mind renewing and soul transforming study of God’s Word. We will be on the Crichton Estate. It’s a beautiful 85 acre property with thirty something buildings. There are over 70 businesses and nonprofits located on the property. Existing tenants include four other colleges and universities.

We will have plenty of nearby parking and there’s a bus stop on the street next to our building. Easterbrook Hall, which boasts the largest auditorium in the South of Scotland, is on the property right across the street from us.

God continues to show us his faithfulness and favor!

Trip to America

As I mentioned above, we are in the USA at the moment. In addition to attending meetings in our role leading the Bible college in Dumfries, we are also connecting with some churches and with some folks who partner with NewCREEations.

On Saturday my father passed away after a long illness. It is a blessing for my mother that Lisa and I are on this side of the Atlantic right now. We will be adjusting our travel schedule to add a few days so we can attend a memorial service for Dad. Mom doesn’t want to have a formal funeral. But it is important to her that our entire family can be together. We’re a bit spread out, so it’s been a few years since we were all together. The last time we were all in the same place was for my grandparent’s 70th wedding anniversary party several years ago.

Please know that I have been completely at peace in this. While no loss is ever pleasant, God is faithful and good. I was able to say my goodbyes in November before we moved to Scotland. My brother and sister were there in the hospital room with my Mom at the end. Plus Lisa and I are here in America so we can adjust our travel plans to attend the memorial service.

So while I morn the loss of my father and honor his memory, God is with me. As the hymn says, it is well with my soul.

“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” — Philippines 4:6-7

Lisa and I encourage you to partner financially with NewCREEations and the work God is doing through the ministry in Scotland. Things are gearing up and the visible activity level is increasing.

As we’ve shared before, tuition is intentionally kept low at Charis so that the life-changing curriculum can be accessible to as many people as possible. Because we keep tuition low, it does not completely cover the cost of running the school, especially in the area of staff salaries.

Part of NewCREEations mission is to help support the staff who are critical when it comes to discipling students. Lisa and I ask you to prayerfully consider partnering with us financially to help transform minds of believers with this life-changing message. These world changers are the very people who will transform Scotland with the light of the Gospel.
