UVA Library's Research Data Services has a full calendar of workshops and training sessions this Spring. They're free! And they start next week. Click on the links below to learn more and to register. We hope to see you this spring.

StatLab Series

We have a full lineup of workshops on statistical software and methods, from introductory to advanced topics. Including,

  • Intro to R and Intro to LaTeX
  • Intro to Machine Learning  with SVMs or CARTs
  • Intro to Social Network Analysis and Web-based Data Visualizations with Shiva tools 
  • Topic Modeling in R and Geospatial and Census Data in R
  • Exploratory Factor Analysis and Power and Sample Size Analysis

Computational Series

We're introducing a new computational workshop series this Spring, pulling in our own data science experts and computational wizards from across grounds. This series includes,

  • Intro to Linux and Intro to Python
  • Visualization in Python (matplotlib), Using Python with Web APIs, and Numerical Computing in Python (numpy and scipy)
  • Version Control with Git and an Into to Computer Networking

Workshops by our Friends

Interested in learning more about Rivanna, UVA's high-performance computing cluster? 

  • The Advanced Research Computing Service (ARCS) hosts a free one-hour orientation session, Introduction to the HPC System, on Friday mornings. Topics are aimed at researchers who are ready to move their computational research from their desktops to a faster environment. Experience with programming is assumed; and you should have an allocation on Rivanna. Email hpc-support@virginia.edu to learn more and reserve a space.

The BioConnector in the Health System has been building a workshop series as well. This Spring, they're lineup includes,

  • Automated Image Analysis with ImageJ/R
  • Building 'Shiny' Web Applications in R
