Fall 2019 Workshop Series

    • Our Fall Workshop Series is starting. Join us for one of our upcoming data workshops (find the full schedule and register here). Coming up this Fall we have workshops in R, Python, Tableau, Qualitative Data, QGIS, and much more!
  • Using R: Introduction to R, Data Wrangling, Data Visualization, Bayesian Data Analysis, and tidycensus in R
  • Using Python: Introduction to Python, Acquiring Data with APIs, and Data Visualization
  • Scientific Workflow Tools: Unix/Command Line, Git/GitHub, Research Data Management, LaTeX/Overleaf, Funding Discovery Tools, LibraData and Dataverse
  • Data Visualization with Tableau; Online Surveys with Qualtrics; Qualitative Data Analysis with Dedoose; Mapping with QGIS; Working with Data in Excel; Understanding Census Data

Legal Data Lab is Hiring!

Our colleagues in at the UVA Law School's Legal Data Lab are hiring a full-time Empirical Research Librarian to support "complex research initiatives involving advanced statistical techniques, natural language processing, and machine learning." Learn how Facebook shares its data with academic researchers at "Facebook and Social Science One: Corporate data partnerships in an era of privacy and big data."  Hear about the organizational structures and legal requirements in place, plus learn more about the initial data set and a high level description of the research platform. Hosted by the Data Science Institute. 
Interested in package development for R? Join R Ladies for their Package Development Workshop. You'll learn how to make your code into an R package, do collaborative coding with GitHub, submit a package to CRAN, and more.
