Discover ACS 2016 in Social Explorer

The newly released 2016 American Community Survey (ACS) 1-year Estimates are now available in Social Explorer. ACS is an annual survey administered by the US Census Bureau, and covers topics such as income, race, ancestry, health insurance, housing, and commute time. Social Explorer is a great platform for exploring Census data. You can quickly and easily create maps and reports, and export data for further use. Check out the ACS in Social Explorer today!  Questions?  Contact data@virginia.edu.

Funding Discovery Tools Workshop

Funding discovery databases help researchers identify opportunities from public and private funders. UVA now has access to two discovery tools licensed by the Vice Provost for Research: Pivot and GrantForward. These tools allow faculty, students and staff to search for funding and set up email search alerts based on a researcher’s area of interest.

The Library offers workshops on using these tools! Come learn how to create an account, search the databases, share funding opportunities with others, as well as save search strategies for email alerts regarding new opportunities. All students, faculty and staff have the ability to create personal accounts. The workshop will be held from 10:30 a.m. to noon, Thursday, Oct. 12, in Room 133, Brown Science & Engineering Library. Please be sure to bring a laptop. Register here: http://cal.lib.virginia.edu/event/3572873

Bonus Fun Facts!

Pivot currently lists $50.81 billion in funding opportunities. You can explore the total dollar amounts available by discipline here.

Grantforward includes over 9000 sponsors, and you can search for awarded grants as well as for grant opportunities.
