Qualitative data analysis and Dedoose: Learn about some principles of and approaches to qualitative analysis, including coding, discerning patterns, and relevant software (Dedoose).
Research data management best practices: Learn about approaches to file organization and formats, metadata and documentation, data security and storage, and more, to make data more findable, accessible, interoperable, and reusable.
LaTeX and Overleaf: Learn to use LaTeX – a powerful (and free) document typesetting program – and Overleaf for online, collaborative papers, presentations, and more.
Census basics: Learn what's available in different Census surveys, what they can be used for, what Census geographies mean, how to incorporate margins of error, and ways to access Census data.

Graduate Research and Writing Cafe
Need a quiet place to work on your thesis, dissertation, or other scholarly project? The UVA Libraries and UVA Writing Center are hosting Research & Writing Cafés. We provide FREE coffee, snacks, and a quiet environment to research and write amongst other graduate students, professional students, or postdocs who are committed to their academic and professional writing. Staff from the UVA Libraries and UVA Writing Center will also be available on-site for consultations. The next Cafe is September 25 from 10am to 1pm in Ruffner Hall 102. Registration is not required, but appreciated.
