UVA R User Meetup

After several months off, we're excited to announce the next meetup  of the UVA R User Group, Friday, September 23 from 4:00-5:30 pm. Stephen Turner, Director of the UVa Bioinformatics Core, will lead off with a demonstration of R Markdown websites, a relatively new feature from the developers at RStudio. Justin Taylor, who’s been interning with the Computational Biology group at HemoShear, is our second featured speaker and will be talking about object oriented programming in R with S3 and S4 classes. Plus, there’s a raffle! Join the UVaR meetup to learn more and to RSVP!

Supporting Research Workflows:
practical steps to increase openness and reproducibility in data science

Present your data projects, meet potential collaborators, and join us for a free, hands-on workshop on research openness and reproducibility hosted by the Center for Open Science and the University of Virginia. Dr. Chaitan Baru, Senior Advisor for Data Science in the National Science Foundation’s Directorate for Computer & Information Science & Engineering will be delivering the keynote address. View the full workshop flyer and please RSVP to attend. As part of a joint workshop series with Virginia Tech, we will talk about your challenges and strategies for creating reproducible data science research and learn about data science projects in our community and region.
