Spring Data Workshops

It’s a new semester so we have a new set of data workshops lined up! This spring we have introductory workshops on
  • Data analysis and visualization tools — R, Stata, Tableau, Excel
  • Computational science tools — Unix, Python, Github, LaTeX
  • Online survey and qualitative research tools — Qualtrics, Dedoose.
Plus, we have specialized sessions on
  • Methods in R — Exploratory Factor Analysis, Confirmatory Factor Analysis, Linear Mixed Effect Modeling, Text Analytics
  • Reproducibility and OSF, literate data science in Stata, data sharing and archiving, and Census data.

As always, they’re free! And they start next week. View the full schedule and register.

... But Wait! There’s More!

Colleagues in the Health Science Library’s (HSL) Research & Data Services, in the School of Medicine Research Computing (SOMRC), and in the Advanced Research Computing Services (ARCS) offer even more workshops and training opportunities.
February R Users Group

On Monday, February 12, 2018 at 4:30 PM The February R Users Group will meet in Alderman Library Room 421.

Steven Hoan, Head of Computational Biology at HemoShear, will be talking with us about “Linear models with R: The basics and a bit more.” If you sign up to attend, you’ll be eligible for our Amazon gift card raffle!

By the way, did you know about these other cool, local meetups?

Meet Your Senior Research Data Scientist & StatLab Manager!

Clay Ford provides statistics consulting for students, faculty and staff engaged in research. Some of the services he provides include helping with data wrangling, such as reshaping or merging data; power and sample size analysis for planned experiments; selecting and implementing appropriate statistical methods; and interpreting and visualizing statistical models. Clay specializes in the R statistical programming language but is also proficient with Stata, SAS and SPSS. When Clay is not consulting he teaches workshops and contributes to StatLab Articles. To chat with Clay about your statistical questions, contact him at statlab@virginia.edu
