Tough Decisions Ahead for 'wortheffort'.

April is a big month for us here at wortheffort. Our start-up lease is up in June so we have to decide on whether or not to re-up our lease. Going month to month is not an option because with all the work we've done to the warehouse there are contingency leases already in place. So basically we have to decide if we can survive as a business this month.

This little school was designed from the get go to require shockingly little capital from class enrollment, art/tool sales, and ad/sponsorship to sustain itself and owner. Less than $3,000/mo. But a year in we're struggling. So if you like the idea of a local wood working school that also host internationally known instructors over long-weekends, we could use your support now.

Wortheffort's purpose is to educate, promote the woodworking craft, and pick up the slack in our education system. So the best support you could offer is helping yourself. Sign up for a class to make a project or learn a new skill.

But if you can't make a class you can also help us subsidize the school by shopping at our newly opened online school. Besides artwork and the tools we use in the school, we have some exciting new products coming out later this month such as a brass infill grooving plane, prototypes of which you've seen in my videos.

And the final way is to please, please, please... tell your friends.

An easy way to do that is forward this newsletter to your woodworking friends. You'd be surprised how few know of us still.

We still have some slots left open for Jeff Millers May class. This is going to be a truly exceptional class for all us wannabe chairm akers. Here's Jeff's description of the class

"This  simple, sturdy stool (you can use it for a small table as well) is designed to give your mortise and tenon skills a workout, with a little bit of dovetail work thrown in for fun. The two side frames are assembled with mortises and tenons, and the front and back rails pull the piece together with angled dovetails.

Jeff will show some great techniques for cutting and fitting the mortise and tenon and dovetail joints, and show a number of simple jigs that can help with accuracy and speed.

Throughout the class, Jeff will emphasize an approach based on solid woodworking fundamentals. This concentration on proper use of your body, a better understanding of your tools, and insight into wood as a material, will help you to work more accurately and efficiently."

Hurry if you want to learn from one of this countries best chairmakers AND educators.
