Things are heating up at the Arboretum
Well, that heat wave we heard about for days finally made its way to the Arboretum. Staff, interns, and volunteers are doing their best to keep up with watering beds and keeping weeds down while also trying to keep themselves safe while working outside. Thank you, thank you, thank you to all the people who keep the Arboretum looking wonderful all season long, including on the hottest days!
Interns work on creating gravel pathways to replace the current mulch trail around the Arboretum.

Please note, the Tabor Home wine tasting has been rescheduled

Due to the excessive heat, we think it's safer and far more enjoyable for attendees to reschedule our wine tasting event to later in the month. We apologize for any inconvenience for the change.

Please join us on Wednesday, July 31st for a laid back and relaxing tasting at the Arboretum. Sample our selection of Iowa Native Wines from Tabor Home Winery and enjoy stuff to snack on while at the tasting. If you find something you love, you can buy a bottle in the gift shop and take it back home for you to enjoy later.

Free with regular admission to the gardens ($5 per adult) and free for members. No pre-registration required.

Sweet Corn Shindig tickets are available!
Join us for a special fundraising event that celebrates a summertime classic. Sweet corn is an Iowa staple, a great addition to your garden, and a tasty treat. Enjoy a meal provided by A&J Services and play yard games like yardzee, corn hole, and giant connect four. Through out the night, attendees are encouraged to explore the Arboretum after hours, shop our country store with home goods, Iowa Wines and other special items and sit back and relax while listening to live music provided by Bob Dorr's Limestoners. Adults can sample brews from our friends at Single Speed Brewing, Lark Brewing, and Second State brewing, as well as a variety of wines and partake in the cash-only wine cork drawing. For kids there will be activities such as sack races, popcorn pick up, and school yard games in the children's garden. Please bring your own seating. Tickets prices are: Adult members- $20, Kid members- $8 (age 5-17). Adult non-members $25, Kid non-members $10 (age 5-17)
