Number of Employees: 303
Product/Service: Petra is the nation's leading wholesale distributor of consumer electronics, wireless accessories, custom installation products, mobile audio/visual accessories and appliance connection supplies.Website: www.petra.com
Petra purchased a 525,000-square-foot warehouse facility on the southeast corner of 33rd and Kelly late last year. The company has made significant investments in restoration and installation of state-of-the-art order processing technology, giving Petra a competitive advantage that will fuel growth well into the future. This building has enabled Petra to consolidate operations previously located in three separate facilities spread throughout the metro area, allowing the company to realize tremendous operational efficiencies. The transition into the new facility was completed in August of this year and the company is happy to have all operations firmly rooted in Edmond.
The company has set aggressive revenue goals for the growth of Petra over the next few years. Key members of the management team from every area of the business participate in an annual strategic planning process. Through this process, key initiatives are identified that will build on successes and provide competitive advantages to Petra and customers. Key initiatives are being implemented in the areas of personnel, facilities, and technology that will position Petra as a leader and fuel sustained growth.
Petra is 30 Years-Strong and believes in giving back. The company's annual Charity Golf Tournament has benefited Whiz Kids Oklahoma and Mercy Ministries for the past 16 years. In addition to these organizations, vendor partners who have supported the tournament for many years nominate worthy causes to receive support through Petra's Hope-In-One initiative. The Wounded Warrior Project, FedEx Family House and Oklahoma Project Woman benefited from the 17th annual tournament through the Hope-In-One selection process.
Petra's Big Heart Alliance is an employee-directed program to give a helping hand to members of the Petra family undergoing challenging circumstances. Employees can choose to make donations through payroll deductions and several fundraising events, including bake sales, a chili cook-off, t-shirt sales and a Christmas raffle, held each year with proceeds going directly to Big Heart Alliance.
Thirty years ago, Edmond felt like a great place to grow a business and a family for the founders of Petra, Bill and Cindy Stewart. The economic and demographic projections of that time have proven to be true. The company feels Edmond has been a terrific home for the business and the company's employees. Petra looks forward to the next 30 years in Edmond and sees tremendous opportunity for growth in the business and the community.
