Newsflash: October 2015

Dear colleagues,

It has been an eventful period for the ASC. The world’s largest furniture retailer, IKEA, has made a commitment to only sell and serve ASC or MSC certified seafood in their hundreds of stores across 47 countries. Serving 600 million customers, the global IKEA commitment to the ASC programme is a game changer. It will introduce ASC certified seafood in many new markets such as Turkey, Thailand and the Middle East.

This September was also the launch of the first Belgian edition of the consumer campaign Think Fish and another successful Think Fish campaign in the Netherlands. The Belgium campaign had a flying start with six major retailers taking part, representing 60 per cent of the Belgian market share, as well as two major fast food restaurants.

Other milestones include welcoming the first certified trout farm in Turkey to the programme and the hotel chain, Nordic Choice, became the first in Scandinavia to offer ASC certified seafood to their guests.
