Newsflash: October 2014

Dear colleagues
We continue to see exciting developments in the growth of our young organisation. The ASC topped the 1000 products mark this quarter, achieved because more businesses are committing to sourcing ASC certified seafood so that collectively we can help move the aquaculture industry towards environmental sustainability and social responsibility.
We ended this quarter by congratulating OMARSA for becoming the first shrimp producer to gain ASC certification. This is another huge milestone for ASC and there is an exciting range of certified shrimp products bearing the ASC logo about to launch into the marketplace.
These commitments are crucial to our cause as they allow us to reach the consumers who ultimately buy the certified products. This in turn creates the necessary incentives to encourage more farms into the programme leading to an overall reduction in environmental and social impacts.
