President's Message

photo of Jane GraydonI hope you were able to spend some quality time with family and friends this summer despite our ongoing pandemic. After many years of back-to-school routines with my kids and now grandkids, September always feels like a fresh start. It’s a time to take stock, establish new routines, update goals, etc. ICF Toronto is offering lots of opportunities to consider as you contemplate your September start.

Firstly, there are some great opportunities to volunteer with ICF Toronto. One of these opportunities that we encourage all our volunteers to consider is a Board position. Nominations are open, so please consider submitting a nomination for yourself or a colleague who wants to join our diverse 2022/23 Board of Directors - before October 8. Please also consider helping with our Communications portfolio and Coach Connect pro bono coaching, among others
www.Icftoronto.com/volunteer.

Secondly, you can sign up today for early bird pricing for our annual conference - EVOLVE 2021. Robin Mahadeva and her team have created an outstanding lineup of speakers and sessions for you.

Thirdly, have you considered applying or nominating someone for an ICF Toronto award? Nominations open November 1st!  Alicia Saint, Vice President and Director of Corporate Outreach and Annual Awards, along with Ralph Cochrane, Lead Judge, are continuing to improve our awards program. It’s easy to apply! Don’t be shy!  www.icftoronto.com/awards

Welcome back to the Board Kirk Fox, who was a member of the Programming Committee and is now bringing his many years of designing and delivering learning programs to our Chapter as our new Director of Programming. Kirk is teaming up with Shahab Anari to bring you many amazing sessions to help you develop your business and as a coach.

I’m looking forward to joining in the upcoming programming and other ICF Toronto activities with you.

Best,

Jane Graydon

How to Integrate Positive Psychology  Tools and Theories into a
Coaching Session While Letting the Client Lead

with Emiliya Zhivotovskaya, MAPP, MCCow

One of the hallmarks of a master-level coach compared to an amateur is that the coach keeps the client in the seat of the expert of their life. In this scenario, the client leads, the coach follows. But what happens when the coach has a suggestion, skill, tool, or point of view? Join Master Certified Coach (MCC), Positive Psychology expert, and CEO/Founder of The Flourishing Center, Emiliya Zhivotovskaya, for a crash course on how to weave the coach's expertise into the coaching session, without throwing off the delicate balance of the coach and client being equals. Learn The Flourishing Center's approach for marrying the science of positive psychology with coaching psychology, along with the key research-based themes that we bring into coaching conversations.

ICF & ACMP Joint Taskforce Update

logo for Converge 21 from October 26-28

Join myself and members of the ICF/ACMP Global task force at ICF Converge on October 26-28 to continue the exploration of how Professional Coaches and Change Managers can work better together.

We are continuing the discussion started at the ACMP Global Converge conference back in June and will share the 10 competencies shared by Professional Coaches and Change Managers and the 7 “new” inflection points in the Change Management Standard, where Professional Coaches can contribute and enhance the change management process. If you coach inside organizations or are an external coach partner working with transforming organizations, please join us to contribute to the conversation. I am working with ACMP Ontario to find an opportunity to share these findings and foster more discussion together, locally. Stay tuned!
