April 2021
Hello Prayer Team,
Thank you for being faithful partners with Noah, Kathi, and the Midwest District. I pray that you will continue by contending in prayer with me as I learn the ropes from Noah and begin serving the District. I also look forward to getting to know each of you better as I find my bearings. For someone shorter than I am, Noah's shoes sure are big!

With Noah's hearty endorsement, I am changing the name, but not the purpose, of this prayer letter. The new name is "Contend," which I'm pulling from Romans 15:30-33:

30 Now I urge you, brethren, by our Lord Jesus Christ and by the love of the Spirit, to strive together with me in your prayers to God for me, 31 that I may... 33 Now the God of peace be with you all, Amen.

The phrase, "strive together with me in prayer," is the heart of praying with and for the ministry of the Church. We strive together, contend together in prayer, and contend against all that would stand in the way of the Church's mission. Hence the title, "Contend". "Strive" didn't have a good feel to it!

The "..." in v. 31 is filled in with whatever the current demands of ministry will be.

Will you contend together with me in prayer? I love how this passage ends with a blessing for those who Paul asked to pray for him. Amen.
