Extract Kits of the Month

We are letting you decide which of our 51 Extract kits is your kit of the month. Stop in and we will discount whatever kit you choose by our standard 15%

Tips and Tricks:

a) Keep the milled grains loose inside the mesh bag to extract the most flavor and color

b) Pay careful attention to not let your steeping water exceed 170°F which extracts tannins and stops the enzymes from extracting the sugars from the grain.

c) Make sure that the malt extract does not accumulate and caramelize on the bottom of the kettle. Keep it stirred.

d) Hops can cause malignant hyperthermia when consumed by dogs, with sometimes fatal results. Don’t let Spot eat your hops.

A Work in Progress, but actually moving now!

               BREWERY TAPROOM

October finally kicked into high gear, we cut the 6" concrete floor and laid the connecting pipe for the trench drains that will be in the brewery. During this process, we found that our water feed is a wonderful 1" line rather than the 1/2-3/4" we originally thought might be available. This means our flow is much better for filling the boil tank when brewing. Time is a big consideration when brewing and if you have to wait for extended periods just to fill your tank it slows the entire process. Our plumber has everything pre-plumbed and ready for connections when the brewery arrives. That is also a good note. The brewery was loaded onto a ship and is sailing across the Pacific now. Expected docking in LA is November 11th and ETA to us is the 20th this month.
We are now setting up the design and building the new space the Brew Shop will move into in roughly 2-3 weeks. Carpets have been ripped out and new laminate flooring is being laid down. The bathroom was gutted and all new ceramic tile floor and tile wainscoting is going in. The bathroom is being updated to ADA standards and will even have a changing station installed. Our landlord, whom we we are grateful for every day, even mentioned he would have our second bathroom updated as well. Bill is truly one of the best building owners anyone could ask for. He has always encouraged us and pitched in when needed, quite often even when we have not asked for anything. In this day and age he is truly  one that helps us thrive and grow.
Anyone interested in helping us move on one of the upcoming weekends, please contact Mike, my manager, at mikecole@tomsbrewsho.com . Mike is looking for 10-20 extra set of hands to make the move in a couple of days. Details, date and time will be provided ASAP. We hope to paint the front part of the store as we did the warehouse about 6 weeks ago. As soon as we are positive on the date Mike will let any of you interested know. As soon as the store moves, we can then really get moving on the Brewery Taproom.

As always we will be closed on Thanksgiving Day to spend with friends and loved ones, as we hope all of you will as well.

CHEERS!!
Tom
