• Eighty-Seventh Apartments – Eighty-Seventh Apartments, funded by the Odessa Housing Finance Corporation, held its grand opening and is filled to the brim. All 181 units at the complex are occupied, and there’s a five-year waiting list of 250. Eighty-Seventh Apartments is located on a 48-acre plot of land, which they plan to fully develop.
• Goodwill – Goodwill broke ground on a new 13,000 sq. ft. building that will feature retail space and a Career Center providing employment services including one on one counseling, resume writing, job search assistance, computer access, and Google Digital Skills Training. The building will be located at 4212 Preston Road and will open in the fall of 2019.
• Odessa Ranked Fifth – Odessa is one of the hardest working cities in the United States, according to a recent study released by insurance company Haven Life. Odessa Ranks fifth in total time – working and commuting – at 46.3 hours per week. Average working time per week is 42.9 hours, while commuting time is 3.4 hours. The percent of population that leaves for work before 7 a.m. is 29.7 percent. The median household income is $58,919. Haven Life cites Odessa has diversified its efforts from energy to logistics in recent years and the city capitalizing on its connection to the road and rail links in West Texas, the study stated.
