Noble county has more lakes than any other county in Northeast IN. At Sylvan Lake
, located in Rome City, you can find great fishing and skiing. Also on Sylvan Lake is the Gene Stratton-Porter State Historic Site
, it contains over 100 acres of fields, woods, and beautiful gardens.
If you are traveling through Kendallville make sure to stop at the Mid-America Windmill Museum
. It will take you back in time and includes 52 restored windmills on the grounds. Ligonier is home to the only perfumery in the United States, Annie Oakley Perfumery
, which is open year-round for tours. Don't forget to stop at St. James Restaurant
in Avilla, established in 1878 and considered Indiana's oldest restaurant. That is just a small sampling of what makes the quality of life in Noble County so great.
Wage and Benefits Survey
The results from the third annual Four-County Wage and Benefits Survey are in. This service was requested by industries from across the county. The report provides current data from approximately 75 industries. This information will not only be used by participants it will also be used by site consultants and prospects that are considering Noble County as well.

The Promise, is an initiative that encourages and supports area students in obtaining post-secondary education. The Promise initially started in Wabash County and recently expanded into 3 more Northeast IN counties, including Noble County. It encourages and supports the establishment of CollegeChoice 529 college savings plans for Kindergarten-3rd grade students. Studies have shown that students who have their own college savings accounts attend college at a much higher rate and are more excited about their future.

Over the past year, Indiana’s unemployment rate declined 2.0 percent, which is the third largest decrease in the nation. Indiana’s labor force gains continue to outpace the national rate, as the Hoosier labor force has grown by more than 46,000 over the past year. In addition, the Hoosier State continues to lead the nation in manufacturing jobs as a portion of the private sector.
