The producers of the very successful SOLD OUT “My Fair Lady 2019”, FULL HOUSE COMMUNITY THEATRE by arrangement with DALRO (Pty) Ltd. & Brooklyn Theatre presents Fiddler on the Roof - The Musical

FIDDLER ON THE ROOF
Launching Saturday 17 October 19:30 (Available for a limited time)
www.brooklyntheatre.tv

The Musical with music by Jerry Bock, lyrics by Sheldon Harnick, and book by Joseph Stein, set in the Pale of Settlement of Imperial Russia in or around 1905. The story centres on Tevye, the father of five daughters, and his attempts to maintain his Jewish religious and cultural traditions as outside influences encroach upon the family's lives. He must cope both with the strong-willed actions of his three older daughters, who wish to marry for love – each one's choice of a husband moves further away from the customs of their Jewish faith and heritage – and with the edict of the Tsar that evicts the Jews from their village.

The original Broadway production of the show, which opened in 1964, had the first musical theatre run in history to surpass 3,000 performances. Fiddler held the record for the longest-running Broadway musical for almost 10 years. It won nine Tony Awards, including best musical, score, book, direction and choreography. It spawned five Broadway revivals and a highly successful 1971 film adaptation and has enjoyed enduring international popularity.

The musical includes very well-known musical numbers like “Tradition”, “Matchmaker”, If I were a rich man”, “To life”, Sunrise Sunset” and “Do you love me?”

Salon Music is proud of its newfound collaboration with Susanna Ohtonen of Adopt-a-Theatre / OperaExtravaganza, a very unusual project in Italy. The project involves reviving quaint little theatres around the countryside of Italy.

The first concert, featured on www.brooklyntheatre.tv from Adopt a Theatre, was a recital by the pianist Michael Tsalka. entitled Dancing in the Moonlight at Teatro Torti in Bevagna, Italy.

The next production, to be shown on Brooklyn Theatre TV is La Dirindina.
This is a short comic operatic interlude or Intermezzo, to be performed with Scarlatti’s more dramatic opera L’Ambeto. The production is baroque opera in its full splendour, with traditional performance practices, period costumes, instruments and decor.

The owners of Hazel Food Market and Arts, Crafts & Culture Market are excited to announce a permanent relocation from Greenlyn Farmyard to Phobians Athletics Club 378 Queen’s Crescent, Lynnwood.

The markets will operate every Saturday from 8:00 to 14:00.

The final market day at Greenlyn will take place 31 October. The markets will be operational in Lynnwood from Saturday 7 November.

It was decided by the market owners, Gerhard Scholtz (Hazelfood) & Daniël Vos (Arts, Crafts & Culture), to find new pastures and relaunch the markets at a legally zoned venue. Contracts between Phobians and both of the markets were signed Sat 10 October.

These open air markets have both built up a considerable public following over a period of 10 years and the high standard of products sold, is paramount to their success. Community involvement is of utmost importance and this has been implemented in various ways. A strong international feel prevails with a Dutch stall selling traditional croquettes, a Polish meat stall, a Russian farm stall, Italian bread etc. This is a great attraction for embassy personnel in Pretoria.

Fresh products to be found at Hazel Food Market include anything from fruit & vegetables, flowers, spices, fresh and processed meat, eggs, homemade bread, rusks and other confectionery. Snacks to consume on location include pancakes, jaffles, roosterkoek, fabulous burgers, sushi and much more.

The Arts, Crafts & Culture market specializes in handmade products. These include souvenirs, fine carpentry, candle holders, soft toys, tablecloths, clothing, such as vintage jackets, dresses and new shoes, porcelain, glass, books and collectables.
