SYFC Summer News
The busy summer term has come to an end and we now have time to reflect and thank God for all the amazing and varied opportunities we have had over the last couple of months to be involved in local schools and churches.
The summer term is always exciting for us, not least because some of our young people become our vounteers as they finish their exams! This year we had the pleasure of working with Alice Morris (above left) who helped us film our end of year video (watch it here!) and Rachel Paynter (above right) who assisted us with many of our It's Your Move lessons in local schools. We want to take this opportunity to thank Rachel and Alice and pray God's blessing on them as they start the next chapter of their lives. (If you'd like to volunteer with s-yfc next term, then we are still looking for loval volunteers to help for a few hours a week from September).
July passed by in a whirl of exciting events as we hosted our first ever Gospel choir concert, ran IYM assemblies and lessons in ten local primary schools, started a new lunch club at Mary Webb School, visited local churches and sang at our first ever wedding! We remain thankful to God who so graciously uses us to share His good news in such varied ways.
While we make the most of a few weeks rest over the summer, we will be looking forward to the next term and planning for some new projects! We are excited to be launching a brand new project: 'It's Your Move Plus' which is a follow on from the work we have been doing with Year 6s. On the first day of term in September we will be at the newly launched Shrewsbury Academy to take lessons with Year 7s. Over the course of the first few weeks of term, we will be seeing over 180 new year 7 pupils on the Sundorne site. Please do pray for us as we plan these lessons over the summer holiday.
Thank you for your continued support over the previous school year. We hope you'll continue to pray for us and support us during 2016/2017! We hope you have a great summer!
