"A growing chasm exists in democracies around the world today in which people of diverse religious and spiritual persuasions find it increasingly difficult to communicate across their differences in order to live together in a common civil society. We will address varieties of religious and spiritual education that promote dialogue across these deep and apparently incommensurable divisions."

Program Updates for the 2019 Meeting

Your Leadership Team has been working hard to add programming to the Conference which will be of particular interest to ALLLM members and other practitioners of Continuing Education.
  • Three workshops focused specifically on ways to enhance continuing education programming for church leaders
  • "Where Healing and Harm Collide" a Thursday evening gathering on the Opiate Crisis in Toronto, featuring Paulos Gebreysus Executive Director of the Regent Park Community Health Centre, and the Rev. Dr. Allison Falby of All Saints Anglican Church
  • networking with REA members during their "Lightening Round" session.
  • ALLLM Annual Meeting on Saturday afternoon November 2 -- with a working lunch, and lots of opportunity to connect with other continuing educators
  • We're hoping to livestream our Annual Meeting, so that even if you can't come to Toronto you can be a part of our conversations. Stay tuned for further details

Wornom Innovation Grant

Are you dreaming about an innovative educational project that could use a financial boost?

Summer is a great time to be creative! Apply for a Wornom Innovation Grant to get funding for your good ideas. This is a $3,500 award for innovative religious education projects and initiatives that further knowledge and deepen the practice of religious education, or that expand the field of religious education to a new area that is not traditionally associated with religious education. The annual application deadline is September 15. Awardees will be invited to present their work at the following year’s REA conference. Review the guidelines and apply online. Professors and mentors: please pass this on your graduate students and others you are guiding in developing projects.
