We hope to see you on Thursday, October 6th in celebration of Buffalo Bayou Park's 1st Birthday from 4 to 8 pm at The Water Works at Buffalo Bayou Park! Come for tasty food truck fare available for purchase from Colonel Eats and Foreign Policy, free birthday cake, beer courtesy of Saint Arnold Brewing Company, root beer floats for purchase from Fat Cat Creamery, lawn games and tunes from A Fistful of Soul. Bring the kiddos to play in the Barbara Fish Daniel Nature Play Area!

10th annual KBR Kids Day on October 15th

Date: Saturday, October 15

Join us for FREE, family-friendly fun at the 10th Annual KBR Kids Day on Buffalo Bayou! From hands-on learning opportunities, arts and crafts, music and entertainment, to tasty treats from food trucks, this year's KBR Kids Day will surely captivate your child's imagination! Families will also have the opportunity to explore the Barbara Fish Daniel Nature Play Area, take $2 rides on BBP’s pontoon boat Spirit of the Bayou, and rent bikes or kayak/canoes from Bike Barn or Bayou City Adventures.

Children are encouraged to wear their Halloween costumes to this event!

Also, KBR Kids Day is the kickoff for Every Kid in a Park (EKIP), a national initiative to connect youth with nature by providing free park admission to all 4th graders. The Houston-area EKIP partnership brings sites with nature-based field trips together with local teachers from Title I schools during the 2016-17 school year. Passports for nature activities will be a fun way to get your family or school connected to all the parks in the Houston area. Teachers, special information will be available on how to connect to cool field trips too!

Ghost Tours along BOO-ffalo Bayou on October 28-30

Ghost and Spirits Boat Tour

Join historian and “ghost writer” Andrew Groocock, as he shares to stories of haunted tales and legends along Buffalo Bayou. Libations courtesy of Saint Arnold Brewing Company and light bites from Spaghetti Warehouse. Costumes are encouraged in keeping with the Halloween spirit and to continue the ghoulish fun in downtown after your tour.

Tales from the Cistern

Wear your costumes and join us for historical Cistern tours with a spirited twist! Hear ghostly tales and see reflections of a haunted past...

Enjoy a free walking tour in Buffalo Bayou Park highlighting the landscape and ecology of 19th century Texas that created Houston, as well as the importance of prairies in rebuilding this astonishing and all but vanished ecosystem.

Volunteer Workday on October 22nd

Great Houston Wildlife Count on October 8th

Prairies & Pollinators Month, October 7 through November 12, offers a host of fun, educational, and hands-on activities and adventures for all ages at state parks, nature preserves, and public green spaces throughout the greater Houston area.

Sponsored by six conservation groups, this year’s Prairies & Pollinators Month will include three public prairie plantings, a tour of urban prairies by lightrail, a teacher workshop, a public prairie celebration, seed collecting, and a hands-on workshop for private landowners looking to restore prairie on their land.

You can sign up to participate in the Great Houston Wildlife Count on Saturday, October 8th to count butterflies, pollinators, birds, and other wildlife in Buffalo Bayou Park with local environmental leaders. This is your chance to add to our understanding of urban wildlife!
