Understanding the Energy-Health-Natural Disasters nexus in the urban context in Africa

ICSU, together with NASAC and the ISSC, will support 10 research projects across Africa. These projects are expected to generate new solutions-oriented knowledge that will help develop new urban paradigms in Africa and make African cities more resilient, adaptable and healthier. This is the first call in a five-year, 5 million Euro project that seeks to increase the production of high quality, integrated (inter- and transdisciplinary), solutions-oriented research on global sustainability by early career scientists in Africa.

Deadline: August 15, 2016

Call for Nominations - Early Career Scientists at Habitat III

4 early career scientists nominated by ICSU National Scientific Members and International Scientific Unions will be selected by ICSU to participate at the Habitat III conference in Quito.

ICSU’s role is to ensure this representation – hence we shall be sending a delegation to Quito, and we want early career scientists (ECS) to be part of that delegation. Early career scientists can expect to take part in side events, networking events, dialogues with stakeholders, attending the negotiations, and to engage with the broader urbanization community. Scientists from Least Developed Countries and women are encouraged to apply.

Deadline: August 1, 2016

In October 2016, 40,000+ people will meet in Quito, Ecuador for the largest cities summit in United Nations history – Habitat III. Three institutions (ICSUThe Future Earth Media LabFH-Potsdam) are launching an open call for visualizations to find new ways of exploring cities and sustainable futures.
