Hello Folks,

And happy nearly-February. You may have noticed that January was one heck of a powerful month in the struggle towards collective liberation.

#ReclaimMLK Day was resoundingly astounding.

And how about the historic #Delta5 trial: jurors actually thanked and hugged the climate activists after the trial ended and vocalized an intention to get more involved in the climate movement themselves. That is so powerful. UUYACJ organizer Tim DeChristopher was in Seattle during the trial --- supporting the activists through the Climate Disobedience Center --- and he spoke about it on Democracy Now! a number of times. Now Tim is about to go on the "LET GO AND LOVE tour" with filmmaker Josh Fox!

UUYACJ activist Lee Stewart recently helped disrupt business as usual for the collusion of government and fracking interests in Pennsylvania with the People's Task Force 7, who are currently seeking donations to help with legal/court fees associated with their arrests.

And while I'm linking to fundraisers: please support and share this crowdrise campaign that will directly benefit a Black Woman organizer from Flint, Michigan, who is working on the ground there to assist those being left out of clean water access relief efforts; including undocumented people, prisoners, and some public housing communities. This crowdrise was started by another amazing Black Woman organizer who you really should know about, follow, and support: @LeslieMac. Leslie regularly  posts for @BlackLivesUU (on Twitter and Facebook) and also founded the Ferguson Response Network.

This month we also hit the 25% mark in our 100 Worship Services for Climate Justice campaign! Based upon the momentum of this month, 2016 will likely be a year where love and courage spreads like wildfire; a year full of both intense personal and movement growth; a year for taking action...

And a year for reading and having online discussions together!

By the leadership of two UUYACJ volunteer organizers --- Ariel Aaronson-Eves and Christine Chao --- we are starting up an online climate justice book club that you should consider joining:
CLICK HERE TO RSVP! Our default meeting time is 5:00 PM Pacific / 8:00 PM Eastern time on Monday 2/29, 3/14, & 3/28th -- However, because we want to be accessible to as many folks as possible, we're asking questions about your meeting time preferences in case we can arrange for a discussion group at a more convenient time for you than 5:00 PM Pacific / 8:00 PM Eastern time. Please spread this invitation to others in your personal networks who may be interested.

Stay tuned for more information about a climate justice graphic art and logo contest, too!

Our next organizing call is on Thursday, February 4th, 9:00 AM Pacific / 12 PM Eastern. We will primarily be discussing a strategy and planning retreat occurring mid-February in Texas. If you are interested in joining this call, RSVP here.

Thank you for your continued engagement and support!

Sincerely,
Aly Tharp
Network Coordinator
