Summer Reading
& Story hour

Registration begins June 2nd,
Kickoff on June 22nd

We have been very busy at the Preschool Storyhour, welcoming Spring and looking forward to our Summer Reading Program!
We have read stories about birds, pigs, kittens and mothers for Mother's Day.  We made flowers, birds in their nests and today we made a smiling sun.
We are looking forward to our Summer Reading Program, "On Your Mark, Get Set...Read."  Our program will include group activities, storytime and special programming.  We will kick off our Summer Reading Program on June 22
Stay tuned for details on our facebook page and our Rosendale Library website, www.rosendalelibrary.org, on the children's page.
Summer Reading registration begins Thursday, June 2 at the library.

2016 Scholarship Winner Announced:

Alex Belikov

Alex Belikov was awarded the 2016 Anna Mae Auchmoedy/Lottie Burns Scholarship by the Friends of the Rosendale Library.   Cindy Eggers, President of the Friends of the Rosendale Library presented Alex with a check for $800.00.  Alex will be attending SUNY Stony Brook this fall to study biomedical engineering.  Congratulations Alex!
In his scholarship application Alex says,"A Library does wonderful things for a community.  It is able to provide free books to the neighborhood, internet access, and much more.  When asked for a quiet place to study, a person's first answer is the library.  It could be a college library, and a local library, or a huge library in the middle of a bustling city.  Whatever library it is, everyone always understands that it is the place for learning, for reading, for getting away from the busy world of today.  No matter what, a library is necessary for any community to have a bond like no other.   The library is one of the most important buildings in any community, big or small."

In order to raise money for next year's scholarship the Friends will be selling raffle tickets at the library circulation desk throughout the summer.
