Dedication of the Friends of Rosendale Library Little Free Library

The Friends of the Rosendale Library dedicated their first Little Free Library located outside the Rosendale Recreation Center.  A Little Free Library is a “take a book, return a book” free book exchange. Anyone may take a book or bring a book to share. Little Free Library book exchanges have a unique, personal touch. There is an understanding that real people are sharing their favorite books with their community; Little Libraries have been called “mini-town squares.” Through Little Free Libraries, millions of books are exchanged each year, profoundly increasing access to books for readers of all ages and backgrounds.

The Friends of the Rosendale Library have joined this national Little Library organization and have kicked off their participation with a very special little library designed and constructed by Joe Boris.  This little library modeled after the historic building that houses the Rosendale Library has been updated with the modern touch of a solar panel to provide light inside the little library in the evening.

Community members are invited to access the little library at any time and are encouraged to visit the library and our on-going sale of used books during the library’s regular hours, Monday, Tuesday and Thursday 11-7:30, Wednesday and Friday 11:00-5:00 and Saturday 10:00-3:00.

Memorial Day Parade Fun

We had a nice turnout for the Rosendale/Tillson American Legion Memorial Day Parade. Five members of the Board of Trustees, three members of the Friends, our beloved Story Hour Leader and some of her little friends participated in all or part of the parade route. We enjoyed the support of many people along the way and handed out candy to lots of kids. Thank you everyone!

A Stroll on the Rail Trail with Bill Brooks, Town Historian

Our first outdoor Adult program on April 24 was a resounding success!  On a beautiful day, 100 people strolled on the Rail Trail with Bill Brooks, Town of Rosendale Historian. The trail provides the perfect backdrop for a local history presentation with remnants of the past in  full view.  This event was co-sponsored by the Wallkill Valley Land Trust, an organization that keeps the past alive while planning for the future.  A big thank you to Bill Brooks, the WVLT and those who enjoyed this outdoor event.
