2014 Spring Edition
View this email in your browser
This spring has been a busy time for all of us at Piedmont Farm Animal Refuge. We've continued to have build days on the weekends and The Hen House is finally nearing completion! We also offered our first cooking class, taught by friend and Refuge supporter Chef Kevin Archer. Another first was handing out free vegan food samples at the Out!Raleigh Festival. At the festival we teamed up with food sampling veterans Laurent & Brenda Menard of Triangle Meatless Mondays and handed out 800 samples of vegan yogurt and almond milk, and over 600 samples of Tofurky vegan sausage! And for the third year in a row we participated in The Worldwide Vegan Bake Sale at Weaver Street Market with cookies, brownies, candies, and plenty of gluten free delights. As we move into summer things aren't slowing down! We'll complete our barn and welcome our first rescued animals, as well as continue to be involved in vegan outreach efforts throughout the Triangle. It's Official - 501c3 Status

We are very pleased to announce that we have finally received our 501c3 status with the IRS! All donations to Piedmont Farm Animal Refuge are now tax deductible by law. Having applied over two years ago, this achievement has been long awaited by us and many of our supporters. We want to thank everyone for their patience and on-going support of our work. Special shout out to Jen Snider (www.growwellnc.com) for her help getting this accomplished!

You're Invited! Barn Opening Celebration

Join us for a party to celebrate the completion of The Refuge Hen House! The celebration will be held at our sanctuary grounds underneath the barn itself. There will be music, food, volunteer awards, and much fun to be had by all! Vegan Chef Kevin Archer will be catering this event with a vegan cook-out that is sure to be out of this world. We'll also be releasing special wish  lanterns to bring a happy future to our organization and the animals who will call this barn a home. Get the details and RSVP for the event below. We hope you'll join us in celebrating this great accomplishment!

Regional Sanctuary Tour

In mid-April part of our team embarked on a regional tour of farm animal sanctuaries in an effort to learn about the work of others and form connections we hope will help us all in our shared mission of advocating for farm animals. We visited seven organizations over a five day period and met some incredible people who work tirelessly in this effort.
