Annual Benefit for the Animals
Join us for an evening to celebrate the wonderful moments and accomplishments of the past year. You can expect a very fun night full of live music by the Minor Swing Band, delicious vegan hors d’oeuvres by Vegan Chef Shawn Harrison, open bar including local beer from Sanctuary Brewing Company, the superb company of fellow supporters of the Refuge, and a chance to hear from some of those working behind the scenes to help our organization grow.
We have a few fresh faces at the Refuge. Meet, Taylor! Taylor was found wandering homeless in Raleigh,North Carolina, before being picked up by Wake County Animal Control. With the rise in popularity of backyard chicken keeping, it is likely that she escaped from an urban backyard. Next, we would like you to meet our new goat family- Moscato and her baby, Wisteria! This mother and daughter survived two terrifying dog attacks in an urban backyard, but their herd mates were not so lucky. Shaken and with non-life threatening wounds, Moscato and Wisteria are taking their time to explore their new home and are inquisitive of their new human care givers.
Last, but certainly not least, please meet Flower! Flower lost her flock mates to multiple coyote attacks and was living alone, confined in a stall. Flower's care givers wanted to give her a safer environment where she could roam freely and make new friends. We are so thrilled to offer a permanent home to this beautiful older girl, who will live out her golden years here at the Refuge. Please help us welcome Taylor, Moscato, Wisteria, and Flower, home!
Please stop by and visit our booth at NC Pride on Duke's East Campus! On Saturday, September 24th, we will be talking to folks about the Refuge and sampling delicious vegan food throughout the day. Better yet, come volunteer with us! Prepare samples, meet people in our community, talk to folks about the Refuge, and enjoy the parade!
