1. GIGABYTE's New 1U 4 GPU Server Unlocks GPU to GPU Bottlenecks

 

 
GIGABYTE continues to strengthen its HPC system portfolio by releasing the G190-G30, a 1U 4 x SXM2 GPU server. Building on the advantages of our current 1U GPU-server range, such as an airflow optimized rack mount, large thermal envelope and uncompromised flexibility, the G190-G30 has been developed to accommodate 4 x NVIDIA SXM2 Tesla® V100 or P100 GPU accelerators with NVLink™ interconnection.
 

Using NVLink™ technology allows for higher bandwidth, more links, and improved scalability over PCIe for GPU to GPU interconnection. For example, a single NVIDIA Tesla® V100 GPU can support up to six NVLink™ links with a signaling rate of 25 GB/second in each direction, equaling a total bandwidth of 300 GB/sec - 10X the bandwidth of PCIe 3. The higher bandwidth and reduced latency allows the G190-G30 to unlock multi-GPU interconnectivity bottlenecks for better performance in intensive parallel computing applications.

2. AMD EPYC™ Server Line-Up Refreshed With More Choices for NVMe Storage

 

GIGABYTE has refreshed its AMD EPYC™ 1U and 2U server line-up with a range updated options supporting different storage device combinations, with increased NVMe connectivity to integrate more dense, high bandwidth storage.

The five refreshed GIGABYTE AMD EPYC™ server products are: the 1U form factor R181-Z90R181-Z91 and R181-Z92, and the 2U form factor R281-Z91 and R281-Z92.

These five systems all support dual AMD EPYC™ 7000 series processors with 32 DIMM slots. Storage wise, the R181-Z90 supports 4 x 3.5" hot-swap SATA/SAS drives, the R181-Z91 supports a mix of 2 x 2.5" hot-swap NVMe U.2 drives and 8 x hot-swap 2.5” SATA/SAS drives, while the R181-Z92 supports 10 x 2.5" hot-swap NVMe U.2 drives.

Meanwhile, the R281-Z91 supports a mix of 6 x 2.5" hot-swap NVMe U.2 and 20 x 2.5" hot-swap SATA/SAS drives, and the R281-Z92 supports 24 x 2.5" hot-swap NVMe U.2 + 2 x 2.5” hot-swap SATA/SAS drives. These five systems also all feature 1 x NVMe M.2 slot for an additional ultra-fast storage device.

Systems that support more dense, high-bandwidth storage can extremely suited for applications such as Big Data, where memory size and performance to store these large volumes of data during processing is becoming more and more important. These different size and storage combinations, using the flexibility offered by the EPYC’s I/O capabilities, allow the customer to choose the best system to suit their technical requirements and budget. Building on the advantages offered by the AMD EPYC platform and using our industry-leading hardware design expertise, GIGABYTE continues to deliver even more choice and value our customers worldwide.

3) USA Events Review: OCP Summit, GPU Technology Conference, NAB Show


  

At the OCP Summit on March 20th - 21st in San Jose, we exhibited our OCP-compliant Intel, AMD and ARM hyper-converged 1OU and 2OU rack server systems - part of our OCP compatible "Racklution" system.

  

At the GPU Technology Conference held by NVIDIA the following week, we showcased our latest GPU servers, including our upcoming 4U GPU servers which can accommodate 10 x GPUs via PCIe slot and 8 x SXM2 GPUs with NV-Link.

 

Finally, our USA team has just wrapped up our participation at the NAB Show in Las Vegas, where we displayed our latest Intel, AMD and ARM workstation systems and boards suitable for the broadcast media industry.

Our next events include Japan IT Week from the 9th to 11th of May, and GTC Taiwan on the 30th and 31st of May. Hope we can meet you at one of these shows!
