1. GIGABYTE Releases Four New Intel® Xeon® E-2100 Processor-based Motherboards
GIGABYTE is bringing four new single-socket LGA 1151 socket Intel Xeon E processor-based motherboards to the market – two new workstation motherboards (MW32-SP0 and MW22-SE0) and two new server motherboards (MX32-4L0 and MX32-BS0), aimed at delivering essential performance, features and value to your enterprise.

MW32-SP0 & MW22-SE0 Workstation Motherboards

The “SP” in MW32-SP0 stands for “super performance”, as this ATX form factor motherboard is designed to deliver great performance and visuals for applications such as 4K video content creation and streaming.

The MW32-SP0 is based on Intel’s C246 embedded chipset, suitable for Intel Xeon E processors with Intel® UHD Graphics P630 technology (an “iGPU” integrated with the CPU) while also featuring both DisplayPort (v1.2) and HDMI (v1.4) ports for dual 4K display output capabilities.

The MW32-SP0 provides rich storage capabilities including a total of 10 x SATA III 6Gb/s ports: six ports from the Intel C246 PCH (two of which can support SATA DOM modules), and four ports from a Marvell® 88SE9230 controller. Also featured is an ultra-fast M.2 port (which can be used for flash storage device or Intel® Optane™ Memory) as well as a SlimSAS port to connect a U.2 storage device.

The MW32-SP0 also features five PCIe expansion slots (one x16, two x8 or one x16, one x4 and one x1) for different peripheral devices, dual onboard 1GbE LAN ports (via Intel® I210 and I219LM chipsets), a Realtek® ALC887 controller for high quality audio output, and six external USB ports (including four USB 3.1 Gen 2 ports for 10Gb/s ultra-fast transfer speeds to your external devices).

Meanwhile, the “SE” in MW22-SE0 stands for “super economic”, having been designed as a cost-efficient motherboard for building entry-level workstations ideal for small / medium businesses and enterprises.

The MW22-SE0 has a mATX form factor suitable for compact workstation towers and is based on Intel’s C242 chipset. Storage wise, the MW22-SE0 features six SATA III 6Gb/s ports as well as an ultra-fast M.2 port, and this motherboard is also Intel® Optane™ Memory ready.

The MW22-SE0 also provides two PCIe expansion slots (one x16 and one x8) and an onboard 1GbE LAN port (via Intel® I219LM chipset). An Aspeed AST2510 controller is included for VGA display output, and a Realtek® ALC887 controller for high quality audio output is available as an option.

MX32-4L0 & MX32-BS0 Server Motherboards

MX32-4L0 and MX32-BS0 are both mATX form factor motherboards designed for server applications, featuring an onboard ASPEED AST2500 controller and dedicated MLAN port to allow for remote management via GIGABYTE’s GSM (GIGABYTE Server Management) software or third party applications (such as with a plugin available for VMware’s vCenter).

The MX32-4L0 is based on Intel’s C246 chipset, and features excellent storage device support with 8 x SATA III 6Gb/s ports (including two that can support SATA DOM modules). The “4L” in MX32-4L0 stands for “4 x LAN” as this motherboard features four onboard 1GbE LAN ports.

Meanwhile, the “BS” in MX32-BS0 stands for “basic saver”, as this motherboard (based on Intel’s C242 chipset) features dual onboard 1GbE ports and 6 x SATA III 6Gb/s ports (including two that can support SATA DOM modules).

Both motherboards feature an ultra-fast M.2 port (for a flash storage device or Intel® Optane™ Memory) and two PCIe expansion slots (one PCIe x16 and one PCIe x4) for additional add-on flexibility.

2. GIGABYTE Adds Two New Lower Cost Options to G481 GPU Server Series

GIGABTYE has released two new lower-cost versions to our popular G481 series of GPU servers: G481-H80 and G481-H81. GIGABYTE’s G481 series offers a high density and cost effective 4U PCIe-type GPU / GPGPU solution to bring massive parallel computing capabilities into your datacenter.

Dual Intel Xeon Scalable Processors
Both G481-H80 and H81 are powered by dual Intel Xeon Scalable processors, with up to 28 cores per CPU. Each socket can support the highest CPU TDP requirement of 205W, as well as Intel's Omni-Path connection technology. Four QSFP28 LAN ports with Intel® Omni-Path Host Fabric Interface may be added to the front I/O as an option, providing 25Gb/s bandwidth per port and 100Gb/s bandwidth in total. Memory wise, each model features 24 x DIMM slots (12 per socket) for a total capacity of over 3TB of memory, and will also be fully compatible with Intel's upcoming Optane DC Persistent Memory.

GPU / GPGPU Capacity
Both the G481-H80 and H81 can accommodate up to 8 double-slot PCIe GPGPU cards such as NVIDIA’s Tesla V100. The user may also wish to alternatively utilize several expansion slots to install high speed networking connectivity products such as Mellanox InfiniBand EDR or 100GbE Ethernet cards.

Storage & Power Features
In order to reduce material cost, these two new models reduce some storage and power capacity that may be in excess of the user’s need compared with the original full spec G481-HA0 model. G481-H80 provides support for 10 x 2.5” (2 x NVMe, 8 x SATA/SAS) hot-swap drives, while G481-H81 provides support for 8 x 3.5” SATA/SAS hot swap drives as standard, with an additional 4 x 3.5” SATA/SAS drives available via an optional RAID card. Power wise, G481-H80 and H81 both feature triple 1600W 80 PLUS Platinum redundant power supplies.

Networking, Expansion & Cooling Features
Standard networking connectivity is provided by dual 10GbE BASE-T LAN ports at the rear and dual 1GbE LAN ports at the front of each unit, as well as dedicated management LAN ports at both the front and rear, giving the user connection flexibility depending on their cable routing arrangement. And apart from 8 x full height full length PCIe (Gen3 x16) expansion slots dedicated for GPUs, G481-H80 and H81 both feature a half-length low profile PCIe (Gen3 x 16) expansion slot located at the rear, while G481-H81 also features an additional half-length low profile PCIe (Gen3 x8) expansion slot located at the front of the unit. These models have been designed for excellent cooling efficiency with a dual fan wall (12 fans in total) between the GPU and CPU area to create a large airflow tunnel, and these fans are also hot swappable.

3. GIGABYTE Releases New Overclocked Liquid Cooled Systems Designed for High-Frequency Trading

GIGABYTE brings our precision engineering to a new line of ultra-fast, low latency & low jitter systems designed to meet these demanding performance requirements while maintaining high reliability and stability.

The R161-R12 and R161-R13 are 1U rackmount servers with an Intel® X299 chipset and LGA 2066 socket for an Intel® Core™ i9 / i7 / i5 X-Series processor. Designed for extreme overclocking, the R161-R12 features a high performance Asetek ServerLSL™ (Server Level Sealed Loop) liquid cooling system and modified BIOS. The fully self-contained liquid cooling system makes possible to maximize CPU clock speeds with no additional data center infrastructure required – the R161-R12 can be installed in the same racks with air cooled servers. Performance wise, the R161-R12 using an i9-7980XE (Extreme Edition) processor can be reliably overclocked to 4.4GHz using AVX (Advanced Vector Extensions) or up to 4.6GHz without using AVX, and an i9-7900 processor can be reliably overclocked to up to 4.7GHz. Meanwhile, the R161-R13 has been created as a cost-efficient variant using an air cooling system instead, and does not support overclocking.


Memory wise, both R161-R12 and R161-R13 feature eight UDIMM slots supporting four channels of Non-ECC DDR4 memory, with a memory speed of up to 2666MHz (1 DIMM per channel) or 2400MHz (2 DIMMS per channel), and a total memory capacity of up to 128GB (16GB x 8 DIMMS). Memory can also be reliably overclocked to at least 3200MHz.

For storage capacity, the R161-R12 features four 2.5” hot-swap HDD / SSD drive trays located in the front of the unit: 2 x hot-swap hybrid (U.2 NVMe or SATA/SAS) drives and 2 x hot-swap SATA/SAS drives, while the R161-R13 increases capacity from the R161-R12 by adding another pair of hot-swap SATA/SAS drive bays at the front. In addition, both systems feature dual onboard M.2 slots (PCIe Gen3.0 x4) for additional ultra-fast storage devices.

Apart from dual onboard 1GbE networking ports, the R161-R12 and R161-R13 both include two low-profile PCIe Gen3.0 x16 slots (via a riser card) in the rear to install high speed networking cards for increased throughput. And the R161-R12 provides mission critical reliability with 1+1 redundant dual 1100W 80 PLUS Platinum power supply units, while R161-R13 features a single 850W 80 PLUS Platinum power supply unit. Both systems feature a dedicated MLAN port and Aspeed AST2500 controller for remote management.
