Morning! ⛅ It's a sunny spring day back in the 60s, and we're wondering:

Is that hope we smell in the air for Trib journalists?

In the last few months, the Chicago Tribune offered staff more buyouts and moved out of its downtown office to its printing facility. Until recently, it looked like the Tribune's biggest shareholder Alden Capital, a hedge fund known for slashing newspaper budgets, was going to entirely acquire the Chicago daily and other Tribune publications across the country.

But with the help of Swiss billionaire philanthropist Hansjörg Wyss, Maryland hotel executive Stewart Bainum made a $680 million offer for all the Tribune newspapers — outbidding Alden's $635 million for now. If the deal goes through, Wyss is considering making the Tribune a nonprofit, similar to newspapers in Philadelphia and Salt Lake City. [Wall Street Journal]

Remember creating fictional worlds in Animal Crossing last year? Now you can travel to the Loop in Minecraft. For almost five years, Illinois Institute of Technology student Alex Kemnitz and Drexel University student Marty Weis built the city's business district and surrounding transit in a 1:1 scale in the game. Next, the architecture students plan to expand east toward Michigan Avenue and Millennium Park.

Who else can't spot the difference? Just me? Cool.
